1) 2/4 is a rare event. Even if it is regularly spread where you're* at, it is not a common occurance.
*"you're" is person inspecific
2) It is absolutely beatable.
3) You cannot make a living at it, but it is beatable in terms of winrate.
For those of us with regular jobs who do this for both income supplementation AND amusement, B&M 2/4, 3/6, 4/8 is beatable. The key phrase is "for a living". For that, you need to be looking at 9/18 at a minimum.
Online is a completely different story and I am not qualified to address it.
