You can't have your cake and eat it too , if you want a fast tourney then you have to force action by escalating the blinds at a faster pace , and conceivably turning it in to a push-fest.An alternative is to allow re-buys for the first few levels and allowing people to take a few shots with hands they normally would'nt , but that also puts more chips in play and dragging it out a little longer. IMO the best alternative is to have 2 different paced games , the first with a more gradual blind escalation , and the second one more aggressive.
