Default Hand against uber-aggressive player

Ok, this was a hand I played at RV .50/1 NL. I was sitting across from a guy who I had seen overbet the pot all in on several accasions, each time he had some sort of a hand, like 2 overs or a draw to a straight/flush, and each time he hit it and took down some huge pots. He was now sitting on about $300, which is a pretty large amount for those blinds. So I pretty much thought I had him pegged as a kind of maniac...

So I'm dealt AQo in EP(2 from BB), I raise to $4. 2 callers from MP (including my maniac), and the BB adds $3 to call too.

Pot is $12.50
Flop comes: 3 5 2 - 3 different suits
So now I have a straight draw, and I'm fairly confident that the flop hasn't helped anyone else except other A's (and possible my maniac, who coulda picked up say, a pair, or even trips)
The BB checks, and I bet $6 (which I realise wasn't a great play, but I did have some chance of taking the pot down right there, and I still had outs...)
So, everyone folds except my maniac and we go to the turn.
Pot is: $24.50
Turn is: 4 (no flush possible)
So I make my straight to the 5. As soon as this card falls, I think to myself that I am going to be able to take a lot of money off my maniac, or at worst he has an A to and we will split. I pretty much he wouldn't be folding now, due to the pot size, and I hadn't seen him fold a big pot at all, despite what cards he had. He seemed to prefer to go all in and bully his opponents out.
So after the turn comes down, I bet out $10, and he (not surprisingly) goes all in for $295 (see what I mean about his overbets?)
He has me covered, I think about it and call for $104 (all I had)
Pot is: $233
River came a T. (still no flush out)

Did I do the right thing? This guy had used this move like 3 times in the last couple of hours, calling to the river, then going all in to push people off the pot. And he had only ammassed the chips in front of him by getting lucky on a couple of occassions and outdrawing people.

Let me know what you think and I'll let you know what happened.

(If there's any detail I've missed out, let me know and I'll fill you in, cheers)
