I like rebuys in the begining, because you want two things to happen:

1) Someone who traveled far should not have to wait 3 hrs for another game to start.. or leave right away if they bust out early.

2) It does nice things to the pot

I don't care for add-ons because it is effectively forcing everyone to pay double the buyin even if they are doing well, just to keep up with the Jones's.

There comes a point where rebuying doesnt make sense anymore due to blinds and the size of some players stacks, so limiting it to the first hour is good.
