i think when first starting out if i were you, i'd refrain from auto-betting AK when you miss the flop. i think it takes some experience to know when/how to bet the hand. my opinion is that you should only semi-bluff with a flush draw and with an open ended straight draw where you are drawing to the high end of th straight(i.e. when you have J-Q, and the board shows a 9 and 10), and then only when there is a rainbow board.
i think in general, conservative play will serve you better when starting out. you'll learn in due time when it is right to ramp up your aggression.
