Hand 1 - I dig.
(And checking the flop would suck so huge I can't even think of the words to describe the suckiness of such a play. Here's the biggest reason why: "Here are 2 hands from my the unbelivable loose tables I was at last night. The I saw the table being 4 or 5 capped PF and calling all the way down with A4o it was amazing.")
Hand 2 - I would raise pre-flop. I would also raise/cap the flop if given the chance. I don't hate the turn cap, even though the BB 3-betting is probably really bad news for your hand. I think the river raise is bad.
