This is a classic hand to raise for information.
You have a good hand and while the action is cheap you need to find out as much as possible. It also gets you a free card most of the time therefore saving you a bet.

Raising for information is overrated. If he flat calls and bets the turn, what hand does he have then?

Hopefully that thread will help you along here. A lot of people raise this flop, especially "for information." That doesn't make it the right play.
