Yes. It is, today. The question is why we have invented a system that is so short-sighted that it cannot take into account what will happen 5 or 10 years down the road. If we keep going like we are today things will get very very bad very soon.

If you defive plentiful as "there's a lot of it now" as opposed to "there's a lot of it" yes, it is plentiful.
But cheap oil and energy now increases use, and there is still only a limited amount to get. So the more we use, the quicker we will run out. And the more we use the harder running out will be.
