I found American Beauty to be pretty risque. I could FEEL the importance of that movie, but other than the really obvious stuff, I think I must have missed a lot of the message in it.
With that in mind, unless these movies are child pornography, I'd be hesitant about judging them without watching them.
A lot of them sound too dark for my tastes though (I'm more of an Amelie, Chocolat, The Thomas Crown Affair kind of guy when it comes to serious movies).
