Yes, you're right, we are normally concerned with 52, or 50 (what's left after our own cards) or 47 (what left after our own cards and the flop), etc.

Zapped used 24 because the original question asked what does (24 choose 3) mean. Those were probably arbitrary numbers chosen by the person asking, and Zapped just went with them.
