I thought the "Standard rule" was anything greater than 1/2 a bet counted on a raise.
Of course each site can make it's own rule, as long as it's posted somewhere.
That being said, I also would agree that you weren't going to get him to fold.
300 on the turn with that many outs into that pot should have been an auto call anyways, and on the turn, he knows he has anywhere from 9 - 18 outs. now not all of those would be clean outs, but I doubt he would have folded this on the flop.
I bet if you ran this on 2 dimes, he was actually the favorite after the flop against you (at least for the side pot).
He had 3 Aces, 4 twos, and 8 other Diamonds
15 outs - 2 times.
