Default Re: House rake in home poker tournaments?

I played in a tournament last weekend, and it just seemed to be a giant money-making scam. First of all ... buy-in was "$20 + $5 for food" - food was 2 slices of Cici's + a can of soda, amounting to about $1.50.

48 people entered, total cashin pool was roughly $1170 I believe, but prize pool was running around $800 (prizes were ridiculous as well - a laptop for first, GC for second, chipset for third). I calculated the rake was around 27% - and that's without food or dealers. I'm thinking of calling him out, because that's just absurd.
