What I have found is that there is a huge misconception about poker. You aren't going to find that "Game Theory", as in John Nash's theory, is going to help you.
Also strangley I saw Anne Duke on letterman saying one of the reasons she was such a good poker player was because she studied statistics and physics in college.
From what I understand she is talking about the statistical mechanics from thermodynamics. However I still cannot see how this would apply to poker. I think the straight odds game that you read in "The thoery for poker" is as mathematically intensive as it gets.
