Default Poker \"Math\"

Does anyone have any suggested resources (books, website, etc) for understanding the "math" aspects of poker? I'm interested in mathematically evaluating the flop relative to my hand to guide my estimate of my expected value of continuing to play it. For example, Will it yield a positive EV for me to be aggressive with top pair, when the flop is all the same suit? You know, those kinds of questions.

On a related note, does anyone have any thoughts on whether applying math is a greater secret to beating the game? Or if player psychology is better? As I write this, I'm wondering if hunting a math resource is barking up the wrong tree.

Thoughts are greatly appreciated!
