Go to the books and software sections for advice on books. Supersystem and Tournament Poker for Advanced Players would be 2 good ones to get to help prepare you.

As for cheaper places to stay, what do you want to do while you're here? Low stakes gambling, shows, hookers (lol), good food, nice rooms, ect...
