The thing is you can't be dealt 1/10 good hands in adequate position to make that worthwhile. Your preflop raises should be designed to narrow the field, generate a lot more action (relative to pot size) and set you up for later big bets.
If you're raising with a hand like A/8os from anywhere, you're giving away money as you will only be called by a better hand more than likely.
I once had a VP$IP simliar to yours, but it came from playing less than strong hands or even decent hands out of position. It was throwing money down the drain.
