Wilson's Turbo Texas Hold'em is a good tool to practice on. It has a lot of advanced features, or you can just play against computer opponents (you select their playing styles).

Following most good preflop guidelines, you will see about 25% of the flops. This number, of course, depends on your opponents and the table texture, but 25% is an good average number.

If SSH is the first book you've read, I suggest putting it away for a while, until you get more experience. That is a very advanced book. The first book I always recommend is Winning Low Limit Hold'em by Lee Jones.
