This is normal and i don't think any player misplayed it if they were both unknowns to each other.
77 has a pretty standard play. JJ has to play like this because 1. 88 99 TT play this way (and don't usually fold), 2. 89 does. 3. Sets in most players hands always wait untill the turn (giving themselves 'outed' shania). The disadvantage is that 66 77 22 67 sometimes play like this. Yet even A7 sometimes.
