Re: Follow up bets

The smaller the buyin the bigger the cb needs to be. As a side note try checking the flop when it misses you (and of course when it hits you) and make a move on the turn. Very
few people do this,...

Pocket Ducks on the Bubble: $109 Stars Turbo

What's my best play? Blinds are 200/400/50 and I have the
big blind.

Seat 1 5500 very loose
Seat 2 800 hanging on and trying to bubble
Seat 3 4500 seemingly solid
Seat 4 2500 hero

Re: Foxwoods $100 MTT - going broke in level 1 w/ TPTK

Call me tight, but first 15 minutes of tournament I'll let this
one pass BTF. I would like to have some idea how my opponents
play before I get involved with AQo. I probably am in the minority on...

Re: what would you do in this situation?

I would fold BTF.

Your call doesn't complete the action. You're not desperate
yet, and you have multiple players to act behind you with
a medium holding at best.

The worst case scenario, a...

Re: Who likes this push? Party 30+3 w/ 250 entrants

There's an analagous thread on the single table forum about
a spot like this. Slightly different hands and fewer tables
but worth a look.

Re: UTG with JJ. Call All-in bet after the flop of three 7s?

Why does everyone assume that villian doesn't have a higher
pocket pair? A lot of players, and I'm not advocating this
strategy, will flat call raises with big pocket pairs. It's incorrect to...

Re: First time ever called a donkey - Could it be true?

They call me a donkey all the time.

I take it as a compliment. They either don't understand
what I'm doing, at least that's what I hope, or maybe they're correct.

Re: Gigabet FT - Hand 27 of the FT

Let's look at this from Patrick's perspective.

Now of course I'm speculating without any knowlege of any
mind games or prior battles between the two advesaries.

But Giga's flop bet means...

Re: Follow up to Doyles bid for the wpt

Not exactly the first time questionable activity has been directed at Doyle.

Re: Hand from Bellagion 5 Diamond

There is a very fine line between brilliance and stupidity.
I'm certainly not inferring that you're stupid.

But based on your dialogue with JJ during the night
what in the world do you think...

Re: Joe Cassidy sick call

Without knowing the betting leading up to the river, the size
of the reraise suggest either a really big hand or a bluff.
I think if the bluffer made a much bigger bet he may have
picked up the...

Re: HOH II Problem 9-3 (p 177)

A squeeze play is a completely different scenario. You're
comparing apples to oranges.

Re: HOH II Problem 9-3 (p 177)

Whether this is correct or not I'm not real sure.

But I'll tell you one thing, if you have ever watched Dan
play, he ain't pushing with this in a real life situation.

Re: Hands from the Bellagio ME when in a \"short\" stack

Hand 1 is the most interesting hand. I'm not real sure what
UTG's cr means. Is he on a draw, did he flop a set, or does he have a big pair? I really don't know, but you're getting over 2:1...

Re: Pwned by Freddie Deeb, WPT Bellagio ME

Thanks for the posts. Much obliged.

Hand 1 Freddie can have anything. The tourny is very deepstacked and he wound up in the pot on the installment plan. Given his loose reputation putting him...

Re: $215 Custer hand #2 - AKo whiffs v 2

HOH is a blockbuster seller per Amazon. I have no idea how
many $215 players have read it, but at live events I'm willing to guestimate that almost half the entrants into an event have read the...

Re: $215 Custer hand #2 - AKo whiffs v 2

I couldn't have said it any better myself, but I'm not a Dukey.

With the release of HOH everyone now knows what a cbet is. Observant players will pick off small cbet's with air all day long. ...

Re: Tough Turn Decision

I agree. This was a poor turn bet. Too great a chance that
hero is drawing skinny. Why bet when you can see a free turn card and the likelyhood of semibluffing the turn is low?

Re: strange raise sizes (LC)

I'll do this frequently also. Good point.

The fact that there's a post about this suggests that
players wonder what's up with this.

Re: Am I a donkey?

Are you saying that you should NEVER fold QQ in early position when reraised later in a tournament?

There aren't too many spots that come to my mind, but I just
hate preaching NEVER. Poker is a...

Re: Am I a donkey?

I think too many players put their opponents on a hand by the size of a raise or reraise. I think this is a big leak.
Good players mix their raises.

Re: Am I a donkey?

You have along way to the final table. How many players were left?

When you're reraised by a sane opponenet let's assume his range is JJ to AA and AK. We might be able to add AQ and 99
and TT...

Re: Case of checking AK is good?

I'd raise virtually every time. You have the best hand, albeit the worst position. You'll flop something a large percentage of the time so you'll win a bigger pot in general. Just don't marry AKs....
