Re: Card Protecters

"A chip from my stack. Any other card protector is retarded."

I agree 100%. I play a lot of daily tournaments in AC. When I see a player sit down with some kind of statute or medallion I...

Would you rather play without a dealer?

Re: current opinion on best NL tournament book

As far as No-Limit strategy is concerned, I strongly disagree. Try Ciafonne's No Limit and Pot Limit book, and McAvoy and Daugherty's new No Limit Poker book. Of course they don't have TPFAP's...

Re: Best book for no-limit beginner to start with?

Re: McAvoy and Daugherty's new No Limit book. I bought it about a month ago when it first came out. I just finished reading it for the third time so obviously I like it a lot. Even though it says...

Re: How many books in your library ?

14 right now and the 15th, "Improve Your Poker" by Bob Ciaffone, on the way. Mostly 2 + 2 and Ciaffone books.
IMO:
Best for Hold'em beginners: WLLH - Jones
Best for intermediate/advanced: HPFAP -...

Re: Caribbean Hold\'em???

There's casinos on all cruise ships but no Holdem. I don't play that table game poker crap. That's why I asked about poker rooms on land.

Caribbean Hold\'em???

Taking a cruise over the holidays to St. Maarten and St. Thomas. Does anyone know of casinos there that have poker rooms where you can play Holdem? I know, it's a long shot, just thought I'd ask....

Re: I still have alot to learn

Copernicus hits the nail right on the head. AQo is a marginal hand to play UTG in NL. You might read this in a manual, but won't learn it till you get bushwacked a few times. Most of the time you...

Re: \"The Theory of Poker\" observation/question answered

Oski, that's exactly what I had in mind. Just add more Hold'em examples, don't take anything out that's already there. Sort of a "21st Century Edition" of TOP.

\"The Theory of Poker\" observation/question

I just finished reading "The Theory of Poker" and as advertised it's a great book. I wonder if any thought has been given to a revision which would include more Hold'em examples. I realize the book...

Re: Middle Limit Poker

Use the "Search" option to find the discussion of this book back in late May and early June. It touched off some real fireworks, and there's a couple of posts by Mason as part of the discussion.

Re: Books that help you stay mentally strong at poker

Without having read all of the other replies, a good book is "The Psychology of Poker" by Alan Schoonmaker.

Re: Hand to Talk About

TURN: You are not going to announce you have the nuts by lead betting into a field of 5 opponets. So your check is correct. Since you describe this as a "very loose game" I assume you anticipated a...

Re: Which one next, TOP or HPFAP

Definitely get both of those books and read them over and over, especially HPFAP. Also get "Middle Limit Holdem Poker" by Ciaffone & Brier, a relatively new book. IMO WLLHP, HPFAP, & MLHP comprise...
