NL, $2-4 blinds.
Holding AJo, 6 handed, second to act. UTG limped and I folded.

Re: Common situation
I agree I should usually lead that flop, and frequently fold to a raise (but not always). What if I am called, the turn is a blank, I check, and he bets? Am I out of there?

Re: Adding hands - k8s from the SB
Two points on evaluating your K8s:
1) People often think in terms of "good kickers" and "lousy kickers" and group the 8 with the lousy ones. This is just plain wrong. There is a world of...

Re: Huge draw. Huge hand. Check it?
Be pretty silly to check and have a king come on the river, wouldn't it?
Or how about checking, the river is a 9, and you lose to some fish playing 83o?

Re: gutshots in the big blind
I'm thinking Nate is right, it's correct to semibluff at the ace high flops, but not at the jack high flops, because:
(1) UTG is more likely to limp with a jack than an ace.
(2) Even if he...

2) On my 2003 return, I listed my profession...

gutshots in the big blind
You have 7 /images/graemlins/heart.gif 4 /images/graemlins/spade.gif in the big blind. UTG limps, everyone folds to the SB who completes, and you check.
The small blind checks the flop to you. ...

Re: smart or crazy?
Right or wrong, my reasoning was:
(1) There are only two people left between me and the raiser, and they both checked. So I think my raise will get it heads up.
(2) The pot is gynormous. I...

Re: stars 30 60
I'm scared of a heart, ace, or gutshot card.
But looking at it now, that probably isn't enough reason, especially with the King of Hearts in hand.

Re: The one bet river bluff
Rarely works. The problem is that your bluff lacks credibility. If you have such a great hand, why weren't you pushing it earlier?
It can occasionally work if the river was a significant card. ...

Re: RESULTS
Because the pot is so huge.
And you don't know if you have 0 outs, 4, 8, or 10. On rare occasion, you could even be ahead (UTG having 88, and the BB having A7s, for instance.)
I'm guessing on...
