Re: A massive overbet...

What does an unknown put hero on when he raises pf and checks a little flop? When a Q comes on the turn what sorts of hands is the opponent going to push in with?

FWIW, I don't get cute with...

Re: A massive overbet...

So our opponent has a middle pair and wants:
1. to bluff hero who supposedly has overcards, on the turn when the Q comes?
2. force hero to fold his six outer

And an unknown opponent is going...

Re: A KK hand, 5/10, help settle a debate...

If hero check calls the flop, there will be ~ 550 in the pot on the turn.

Waiting till the turn makes it virtually impossible for your opponent to make a mistake, and greatly increases the chances...

Re: RESULTS

I think if you check the turn out of position (after reraising on the flop), you will face a bet (as you did) at least 80% of the time.

Re: Did I panic?

Because you have everyone covered, and you can get them all-in on the flop with a check-raise, I'd go ahead with a check planning to raise (assuming, someone in the field will bet at it).

As it...

Re: $20 party SNG push or fold?

Thanks for the advice. I'm not really looking for a confirmation here, I'm 95% sure of the kind of hand he has (he had KT), I was just wondering whether I should wait it out since I have no folding...

$20 party SNG push or fold?

Sorry if this question (or something similar) has been answered before:

Down to the money, I'm in the SB with about 1800, Button has about the same (but has me covered) and BB has the rest of the...

Re: haunting 10-20 hand...

Don't you have the numbers reversed? Shouldn't he have the positive EV for the scenario when he's NOT against the AA?

Re: RESULTS and thoughts

Normally, I'd never do this. On the surface it seems like a only a better hand is likely to call kind of situation. Here a list of scenarios that I posed to pdubz:

Consider the following...

Re: best play with these jacks?

It should be noted that Button will likely flat call the flop with a marginal hand as well as a monster if I make a reasonable bet.

Consider the following situations if I make a reasonable bet,...

best play with these jacks?

Party Poker 0.5-$1.00 blind table. I just started playing this level so I don't know any of the other players very well (aside from the hour or so I have been playing at this table). I have about...

Re: AA hand, UGLY flop, perplexing river

The pot is ~$40 and hero has ~$40 left. If hero chooses to bet the flop (1/2 pot to full pot bet), and is check-raised hero has to put the rest of the money in (barring a spectacular read)--if for...

Re: AA hand, UGLY flop, perplexing river

I disagree with the other posters; I like your play.

flop: I see no reason to bet here. If you bet, you're pot commited, and if you're called on your bet there's a pretty decent chance you're...

Re: 2/4 NL Call or Fold?

I think it would be difficult to put the opponent on a hand like AT, AJ, AK of hearts because a semi-bluff at this point is unlikely to succeed as pot-commited as the hero is (minus a read of course).

Re: 97 straight on flush board

I think your raise on the flop tells him you're either semi-bluffing with the A of hearts or have a strong made hand (straight or set) that doesn't want to see another heart come.

I think...

Re: Too tricky? -- corrected

If the opponent has KK then UTG is giving the button 10 outs not just 2 to beat him. If Button has AA, then button has 6 outs. All of this for free on the turn. Not to mention UTG might make a...

If the 8 doesn't pair on the river, do you still push against this type of player, or do you check it to him?

If this player is as cautious as you say, you might not be able to get much money out of him even if he does hit his flush on a paired board (especially w/ a check-raise). I think this is all the...

Re: KK hand, too tricky?

You've made a large raise out of the blinds. You need to bet this flop. Not doing so and then potting the river just looks retarded. The way you played it, you either have KK or AK possibly AA. ...

Re: QQ- what\'s the river play?

Preflop: I would stick with whatever open raise you have been making. If you want to kick it up to $15, you're gonna have to do that with all your hands which may not be desirable.

Flop: There's...

Re: how did he call my turn c/r

If you had a Q, you wouldn't check raise the turn after betting the flop, you would continue to protect your hand on a drawy board. It's pretty unlikely the 4 helped you in anyway though maybe you...

Re: My \"Sklansky-ish\" thoughts on the AK limp/raise/min.raise debate

If you min-raise preflop expecting to get several callers then those callers are getting terrific implied odds to call with a wide range of hands, the least of which being any PP, various Axs,...
