Re: how much do u make?

[ QUOTE ]
I'll be honest, I lost 34K this year and last year I dropped 53,500. I play 10-20 online, 4-6 tabling. Am I the only losing player here? Seriously?

Re: Same pocket pairs - 4 suited flop

Probability of EXACTLY 4 of a suit coming (not 5, which gets trickier depending on the pair and straight flushes on board):

C(12,4) * 36/C(48,5) = 1.04%

Re: A bit of help needed

[ QUOTE ]
I'm also a bit confused about whether the 'standard' C (permutations) function removes order considerations.

[/ QUOTE ]
It does. C(N,R) = N!/[(N-R)! * R!]

Re: A little help - Odds of me winning?

This is correct if this is actually how they're picking the winner. If they choose a random table first, and then choose a random player, it's right. If they just choose a random player, you'd need...

Re: Absence of ACES before the FLOP

C(N,R) = N!/[(N-R!) * R!]

! is the symbol for factorial. It's the multiplication of all the numbers between 1 and itself. So:

4! = 4 * 3 * 2 * 1
8! = 8 * 7 * 6 * 5 * 4 * 3 * 2 * 1

Re: quick question

The probability that an individual has suited cards is 23.53%. You can't just multiply that by 10. To get the exact answer you need a fairly large inclusion/exclusion. Search for BruceZ's post on...

[ QUOTE ]
That does not make mathematical sense

[/ QUOTE ]
I agree, that's why I fixed your calculation.

You are inflating the results

Re: my math must be flawed, cuz this doesnt sound right

Because of the "(only one person gets them)" clause. If more than one person gets them, it's counted twice.

Re: Odds for flopping trips with two unpaired cards in the hole..

C stands for Combinations, and is equivalent to the Excel function COMBIN. Basically, C(N,R) is the number of ways to select R items from a set of N items, regardless of order.

Re: 6max PP

As stated, number of players doesn't matter. Still 5 * C(4,2)/C(52,2) or ~2.26%.

Re: my math must be flawed, cuz this doesnt sound right

If my A.M. inclusion/exclusion principle is correct, to meet your condition that only one person has A-A:

C(10,1) * C(4,2)/C(52,2) - C(10,2) * C(4,4)/C(52,4) = 4.5083% as opposed to 4.5249%

Re: Help Calculating The Odds on this Roulete Bet

In the long run, 24/37 times you'll "win" $100. If it hits on 14, you bet $200 but you take back $300 for a profit of $100. Make sense?

In the long run, 13/37 times you'll lose $200. This...

Re: Help Calculating The Odds on this Roulete Bet

EV = (24/37 * 100) + (13/37 * -200) = -$5.41 every time.

No.

Re: Odds for flopping trips with two unpaired cards in the hole..

Trips, without a boat/quads:

[2 * C(3,2) * 44]/C(50,3) = ~1.35% or ~73.24 to 1

2 of either of your cards (no boat/quads restriction):

[2 * C(3,2) * 48]/C(50,3) = ~1.47% or ~68 to 1

Re: Absence of ACES before the FLOP

Assume 10 handed. In the first example, you have no knowledge whatsoever, including your own cards. In the second example you have knowledge of your cards.

First: C(48,20)/C(52,20)
Second:...

There are 1326 total starting hands (but you hold A-9, so it's 1225), so the odds of one oppenent being ahead of you preflop is 120/1225=9.8%

Re: 3 AK preflop hands (with a quiz!)

Hero has 150+ BB in hands 1/2 and is covered in both. He's reasonably deep. There's a difference between being weak/tight and waiting for a better spot. Loathe it all you want.
