Re: Bad strategy or good?

No. You'd rather have the weak guy eliminated. Just because a guy is weak doesn't mean you want him around. For example, may his weakness is he calls too much, while the strong guy is tight. ...

Re: $22: Interesting hand, do you call?

The second time you had TPTK and folded? Is that right? I would pay that off. Well it's hard to say without knowing the exact situation, but generally is someone can beat my TPTK and it's not...

Re: Donkey or Clever?

I agree completely. There's only a 1 in 3 chance he has a pair, and without one there's a good chance he'll fold, and he may fold a smaller pair. Hero would be risking 2.3 to win 1, so Villain...

Re: $22: Push or wait with an uber short stack

General tournament theory states that chips are worth more as the stack sizes go down, so if anything ICM should be undervaluing the true equity here, not overvaluing it.

Assuming the big stack...

Re: Rambling thoughts and questions regarding small stakes sng (Party)

Thanks for your well thought out reply. Good food for thought.

[ QUOTE ]
In pushing, don't go overboard. Harrington's M=5 rule, push with anything decent, is a little overboard for Party's...

Re: Curtains: screw the 10 BB \'rule\'

Running this on SNGPT, assuming as average calling range, AQo is the worst recommended pushing hand (i.e., just barely good enough to push). If one assumes a loose calling range, that doesn't...

Re: Curtains: screw the 10 BB \'rule\'

That's what I normally do with stack size about this size. Raise about 20% of stack (which would be about 3 BB's) and follow with a bet of the same size if checked to and the flop is missed. This...

Re: $22: Standard with AK?

No, he want him to call with 87.

Rambling thoughts and questions regarding small stakes sng (Party)

1)The most common mistake I see are unnormal bet sizes. If one consides a bet of between 1/2 pot and the pot to be normal, virtually every hand one sees bets outside of this range. A betting...

Re: Mistakes

1)Read through the strategy posts listed in the FAQ. See if there's any part of your game which disagrees with that. If so, that's a target to look at. In particular, it's very easy to fall into a...

Re: Trying to figure out pushing...this one?

The stack's too small for this. I'd do what you said with 12.5 BB. If you raise 3xBB, he'll be getting about 3 to 1 to call the flop.

Re: Trying to figure out pushing...this one?

Assuming you haven't pushed before, I would do this if noone had called, so just SB was in the pot. Even with the UTG limper, it's probably +EV, but marginally so. You can probably get a better...

Re: I used to push Ace rag as a semi-shortstack in early position ...

88/ATs/AJo is my guess for UTG. 88 I'm pretty sure is close. I'm less sure about where to draw the Ace line, but I think I'm close here too. KQ I don't think will work. (Of course it will depend...

The link didn't work for me. The "connection was refused". Maybe because I'm at work. I'll try again at home.

Re: $11; 2nd stack w/6 players holding AQo against early raiser

I don't know. /images/graemlins/confused.gif

I didn't really care to know. I just wanted to know if my raise was a good one or not.

Re: $11; 2nd stack w/6 players holding AQo against early raiser

SNGPT, or perhaps more accurately ICM, measures the equity of a push vs. a fold on the assumption that the stack sizes dictate all that's important to know regarding the state of the tournment. But...

Re: $11; 2nd stack w/6 players holding AQo against early raiser

I was surprised he called me, I can say that. After all, my stack is big enough to hurt him.

I'm sure the push is +EV, from an SNGPT standpoint. I'm just sure it's worth the risk. That is, I...

Thanks for the responses.

No, I said the big stack was UTG or UTG+1 (but the way I worded it could be a big ambiguous). You interpreted what I wrote correctly.
