Re: $50 PLO8 hand

As has been pointed out how you play the preflop is variable. If you sometimes raise and sometimes call with this hand it's fine. I'd put it 75% raising in late position and 25% calling. I might not...

Re: 2nd nut low and double belly buster against a weak bettor

Tough hand.

I agree it's worthwhile for such a small price to see the turn.

The question as you ask, should you pop it--or should you fold? Or call as you did?

You have nothing really...

Re: Multiway nut low, trips with pair on the board

Looks fine.

I might have tried a check-raise of the flop or bet out smaller. You have a monster. However, you bet out large and got called twice. Great. The other two players like their hands.

Re: PLO8 General Thought

I play Holdem but in that game, maniacs can be a real problem. You always see articles "How to Play When a Maniac is in the Game" for Holdem.

It's even worse if it's a player switching gears. If...

Re: PLO8 General Thought

Low Limit 08 is fairly simple.

But I read someone--maybe Gergery--say PL08 may be one of the most complex games.

The way I play it, it's not, except for two-way type hands with 3 players and...

Re: PLO8 25 - Did I overplay flop?

If you put him on a weak hand, then it's more of a reason to check/call him down. If he's overplaying the nut low draw--then well, sh*t, you're overplaying your high cards too and not at that much of...

Re: Nut low, 2 pair, multiway scary board

Well, one reason might be something Ciaffone mentions in his book pot limit and no limit poker something like:

"Next time you bet large with only the nut low in pl08 and get quartered and lose big...

Re: Folding the river, (censorsed)

He made the straight. The extra bit of information seals it.

"Give it to Paulie" could be a bluff. When he adds: "Straight." and its the type of game you describe this would be over the top....

Re: PLO8 25 - Did I overplay flop?

It's an interesting hand.

People overplay Aces. After reading Berman's admonition in SS2 about how average players lose more with AA** than good players--and this is in Omaha high!--I've slowed...

Re: Flopped nuts with lots of draws on the board...

"I prefer just calling the flop and getting chips in on a brick turn card (non-heart, non-low); nobody will suspect you have a set and you'll get paid. A raise here can be -EV pretty easily."

Re: How is my line?

Strange hand. You have a str8 flush draw.

The flop is definitely worth playing IMO esp if the stacks are deep. No, don't put it all in the flop. See another card, hope you get your str8 flush or...

Re: Nut low, 2 pair, multiway scary board

First, on the flop, you have a number of players in the pot. Someone probably has a flush. I would have bet a bit smaller to encourage callers. I suppose you are trying to get non-nut flushes to lay...

If Villain has lower flush with an extra low card for counterfeit protection,...

Re: 200 PL AA line ok?

I dont like it.

You're in terrible position. Facing a better with a player behind with a very mediocre hand.

When people make mini-bets, a saying I've heard, they rarely like calling a...

Re: Questionable Laydown - My First! (200 PLO8b)

I dont like the preflop or the planned check-raise.

Catch My Bitch, the LAG, when you have a hand. A better hand will come around for you soon. Then try to take the LAG's stack then.

Re: PLO8 $100 hand

I just happen to be reading a Ribbo hand on his website: ribbo.com he says something similar on his hand #3 (agreed 3 low cards had hit):

"I know its hard. But when you flop top set, there will...

Re: PLO8 $100 hand

I dont agree with the above posters who say pot the flop.

I say wait until the turn.

There's already a sizeable bet made. Call and see if other players follow. On the turn if it comes...

Re: Nut low, 2nd nut flush draw, gutshot vs low chaser

It is close.

Thinking about it and some rough ad-hoc pen & paper calculations assuming 40% 40% 20% where 40% equals the chance of the opponent A) All-in opponent has nut low and B) River opponent...

Re: Nut low, 2nd nut flush draw, gutshot vs low chaser

Absolutely. With just Q-high, someone already all-in, facing a potsize raise into a dry side pot, yes I would fold the river. Easy.

Great site. I like Ribbo's site too.

I'd like to see more hands described, more pl08 strategy articles. Please.

Re: To pot or not to pot (size of bet question)

1) Bet small on the flop. Checking isn't bad but a bet here would be normal even if you didn't have anything. If everyone folds, I don't think checking would have gained you much anyway.

2) I can...

Re: Nut low, 2nd nut flush draw, gutshot vs low chaser

I wouldn't raise all-in on the turn. You've gotten called on the flop and the turn and are raised all-in. You may already be quartered by the all-in guy. You've just got nut low and the draw. Call &...

Re: WPT, WSOP & Stacked, any of these any good?

I got the Poker Academy Pro (there's also a $17 regular game version out). I've been very pleased. I've found other software poker games to be too tight. Basically if you just bet out on the flop,...
