Re: Ugly, ugly, ugly!

I like it. I'd say spades is a frontrunner for his holding.

Re: How do you make sure that a PF 3-bettor doesn\'t just have overcard

Yeah, strike that from the record. I forgot about BB being in there.

[ QUOTE ]
that flop play is the worst of all worlds.

lots of CO three bets will raise here with overs or a flush draw that they like.

lots of fives and big pairs will wait and pop the turn....

Re: 5/10: JJ w/ A flop

Yeah, I don't like your plan much at all. I think you're behind most of the time when he donks the turn (unless he's weird and loves to donk with draws or pair plus draws, flush draws and 78 are...

Re: fold a boat against LAG?

[ QUOTE ]
I don't think so. Even if Villian is retarded, he'll call the raise with kings over, 3bets with aces over, but fold most of the time when he has underpairs. If you make a...

No way. Smaller pair way too often.

[/ QUOTE ]

If we think that villain often has a smaller pair, then shouldn't I be raise/folding the river?

Re: River action against a TAG...

Advocates of checkraising flop,

I don't like a flop C/R becase I don't trust CO to bet this flop all the time. A large part of the time he won't have an ace, which means he needs to bet the flop...

River action against a TAG...

Villian is a little too loose preflop and was sporadically aggressive preflop. There were a few hands I saw him play that he definitely should have raised preflop, but postflop he keeps the pressure...

Re: 5/10: QJ gets in big pot, rivers trips, gets donked

RunDownHouse,

Weird hand. I can't think of a hand that I like BB's play for.

The flop bet is good if it will clear out gutshots that will be made by you spiking a pair (JT, QT) or hands that...

Re: Going after your read

Roy,

The profitability of this play depends on how often he has exactly 78, and how often he decides to fold his rivered pair. That's quite the parlay, even if you are extremely sure he has 78,...

Re: Vulnerable hand in multiway pot...

Everyone,

Thanks for the responses. I ended up winning against Button's QhQx, but I didn't fastplay the flop like I should have. I marked the hand for review later on and wanted to see if...

Vulnerable hand in multiway pot...

Button is solid. MP is loose spazzy moron, about 55% VPIP. SB is loose-passive moron (36/12).

Re: K9s missed flop

*shrug*

I don't see much value in it. To each their own, I play pretty passively preflop compared to some. I even open limp.

Re: my new bad habit: getting passive in position

Dilapidated Domicile,

What kind of river cards are you checking behind here, or are you at all? I wouldn't this one because 5s and 10s are unlikely cards to reside in the villian's hand, and if...

Re: my new bad habit: getting passive in position

[ QUOTE ]

Well, for a more aggro opponent, they could be betting a lot there. Any pair, a draw, monsters, Uno cards, who knows. Maybe some of that they would checkraise with, but who would they be...

A read would be a huge help here.

If he's aggro, it isn't terrible. You probably should find a raise somewhere... but I'm not quite sure where.

Against a more passive opponent again...

Re: K9s missed flop

Postflop is fine.

not a fan of the raise preflop. with a limper already the pot will often be 3-4 handed, and you may find yourself out of position. not a good spot for K9s.

Re: my new bad habit: getting passive in position

Spicymoose,

I'm not sure I agree that a turn raise is more profitable. When CO open limps, that flop will sorta kinda hit a lot of his small/mid connector hands. It isn't inconceivable for CO to...

Re: Common Situation / Simple Questions

I don't like calling down on a K35r board against a TAGish player. You're getting ~3-1 to call down effectively (from the flop raise), and I don't think he's bluffing 25% of the time.

Re: Check the turn?

yeah... the pot is just too small to worry too much about draws and you'll make more when you hit if you check the turn.

Re: Check the turn?

Without a reliable WTSD read, I'd check behind here. As a poster earlier mentioned, he's pretty tight which means he's less likely to be pairless after he calls the flop, and that nine hits a lot of...

Re: I don\'t want to be average

Game and seat selection. I really don't think 3BB/100 is possible without paying quite a bit of attention to those two factors. Also to paraphrase The Mason in one of the Poker Essays books, after...

Re: couple hands from tonight

There's a lot of ways to play hand one, and I don't think that many are all that different EV wise from each other. I usually don't cap preflop but it's fine to do.

I'm not sure whether or not...

Re: AK vs. over-aggressive player, QQ

I check/fold the turn in hand one. You cap preflop, OOP, and he still wants to give you action? Only getting 7.75-1, and 6 outs is right at break even if you always win when you spike, but you...
