Re: Books For Beginners

When I started playing a few months ago, I bought WLLH (latest edition). Half way through the book I also picked up SSHE. After reading part of Miller's book, I never went back to WLLH as I like the...

Re: First post - beginners question about game selection.

My limited experience is much the same. I play limit ring and just starting to play limit SNGs. I think you need to be comfortable with the ring game before venturing into the SNGs. There's so much...

Re: why are players on paradise so terrible?

The .25/.50 games on Paradise are the same. Plus, the players tend to be very passive, not betting their good hands aggressively, so it's hard to get reads. While this can lead to some frustrating...

Re: My first hand..... I\'m hoping it shows up correct plz comment

If the players at .5/1 are like the ones at Paradise .25/.50 (that I play), they play two pair or a set the same as junk. Unless you have a good read on UGT, fold this flop.

Re: Starting off in micro limits

I was where you are a couple of months ago. Suggest you get Miller's SSHE book - IMO the Jones book does not teach the aggressive play need to be successful at higher levels.

Re: LPPs and Turn Check/Raise

I've just moved up to .25/.50 on Paradise from .10/.20. This type of play is pretty typical. Few players seem to bet their hands pre-flop or on the flop - so you don't know if the turn card really...

Re: \"Just Moved Up\" Question

Yeah, the passive players are frustrating, but I'm not at the point where I can handle the maniacs very well.

Re: \"Just Moved Up\" Question

Check/calling with big hands.

I just found this surprising since they did not do this at the 10/.20 level.

\"Just Moved Up\" Question

I've been playing on line for about 3 months, so I know my sample size is small. I've read both of Ed's books (SSHE many times), and am trying to improve my game. My PT stats are mostly in the right...

Re: GETTING STARTED IN HOLD EM

I don't know about damaged goods, but I believe starting with WLLH you learn a very non-agressive style. I started with SSHE and it was tough to get through (even the 3rd time) - but I'm glad I did. ...

Re: Online VS Casino Hold em

One thing I can say is the cards fall different online than they do live, I don't care what anyone says, they fall different.

Re: Limit SnG Pointers -

I also thought this thresd was worth bumping.

I don't have much experience (playinh for about 2 months in ring and few SNGs), but wondered if my observations were valid. At low limit (5+1) SNG, I...

Re: Weak Hand in the BB

Yeah, looking back, the turn should have been raised or folded.

BTW, I notice some posts include results, others do not. Since they are hidden in white, I assume it's up to the reader to determine...

Re: Weak Hand in the BB

I was worried about the MP2 having a flush, but not the SB based on SB play of previous hands. But I felt the MP2 would have bet the flop with a flush draw - MP2 did not seem that passive.

Weak Hand in the BB

I was having a terrible night at Paradise .10/.20. Had to quit after this hand.

Figured MP2 as somewhat passive. Figured SB as aggressive and would play with a wide range of hands.

MP2 raise...

Re: Have we all forgotten our roots?

I started playing about 2 months ago. I bought WLLH and was about half-way through it when I picked up SSH at the book store. At first glance, SSH was quite in-depth and the concepts were difficult...

Re: Mistake in Fundamentals of Craps??

Good analysis.

Of course, bottom line is that the C/E is a pretty bad bet (due to the vig) unless it is part of a hedge play.

Re: New Observations

Probably good advice to start at low limits.

What about my observation that the low limit games I watch seem to be very tight (even though someplayers still play "bad" hands)? There rarely is...

New Observations

I've just started to play hold 'em - on line at Paradise - about 3 weeks ago. I seem to do fairly well playing a reasonably tight game (per Miller's book). I've only played at the "free play" tables...
