Re: I forgot how to play poker.

I cash out half my remaining bank after a downspell, when it's due to questionable plays rather than bad beats. This usually happens when I go on an ego trip : "Wow, I can beat 20000/40000 NL !".

Re: 10/20NL, TPTK against a half stack

I like 50BB, it's my confort zone...

Re: Multitabling 3 5/10 vs. playing 1 15/30

FWIW, my results have improved after moving from several party NLs to a single UB game (mostly 5/10 NL). I think a lot of the edge in NL comes from building a mental model of how you opponents play...

Re: Simple tournament hand

With 5 players left to act, and 225 blinds for a 1530 stack, your raise factor is 5*1530/225=34. Thats a little too much for 77. At best, you're slightly +ev in chips, but -ev in $$.

Call or fold...

Re: bubble 77 problem

I think folding is correct, but it's close, and very dependant on the bb's playing style.

In my analysis, I use the Sklansky-Peacock tournament equity model, which is explained here...

where did the Sklansky-Karlsson rankings go ?

These rankings gave max stack size to have a +ev push in the sb. formerly found at

http://www.decf.berkeley.edu/~chubukov/rankings.html

Anyone got a copy ?

Re: Poker Theory SNG Question

If you have 3 people with stacks 5000,2000,1000
big stack's chance of finishing second is
1/8 * 5/7 + 2/8 * 5/6

If the smallest stack gets 1st, we assume the chance of getting second for player1...

1.84 x original equity, using the Sklansky-Peacock method (see 3 player case in TPFAP). Since this method slightly undervalues big stacks, you can probably treat this as a lower bound.
