Re: QQ hand.

Fold and wait for a better spot.

If MP has a K, you only have two outs to keep you from the exit. Even if MP does not have the goods, BB is still in the hand and could very well be playing for a...

Re: Final Table question

Easy call. You're getting 3:2 odds with only 2 hands that you're afraid of. It's more likely he's pushing with 99-JJ,AK or AQ.

Re: TT first hand

I also think that the open raise was a little excessive. It telegraphs your middle pair (to an observant solid player) and makes it more expensive to defend post flop with a vulnerable hand.

Re: Anybody esle folding A-A on this flop?

Are Q9, JT, J8, T8 really going to call the preflop raise?

I think you only have the 3 sets to really worry about. I can think of worse flops for AA.

Re: An applied pobability theory problem

Easy answer. You are beaten more often in scenario #1. There are 5 limpers (including you and the button?) The first 3 fold after button bets. They obviously do not have a J. so there are 2 out of 41...

Re: Nut straight, paired board, on the bubble

Yes it is an instacall, but judging from the existence of this post, I would say that villain had 77 or 88.

Cheating Rings in PP Step 5

Has anybody heard about this? When I registered into my Step 5 (single) last night, an observer was warning everone not to play because there was a Russian cheating ring at the table. Sure enough,...

Re: AK in hand, KQJ on board, reraised all-in

[ QUOTE ]
the only way you have 10 outs is if he has QJ. If he has KQ or KJ, you only have 7 outs(3 aces and 4 tens). Also, if I had 9T I might play my hand like this. I don't want to have a T...

Re: AK in hand, KQJ on board, reraised all-in

You're likely up against KQ or possibly KJ, JQ. A made straight most likely would not have pushed. (Actually the caller is more likely to have AT than the pusher).

What are the other stack sizes?...

Re: Anyone lay down this QQ?

Let's assume a 60% chance of AA or KK, 20% chance of AK and 20% chance of JJ or less (including total bluff). Any objections to these assumptions? So you're chance of winning is (.60 x .18) + (.20 x...

Re: Anyone lay down this QQ?

I hardly ever see this play with JJ or less. He might be holding AK but much more likely to have AA, KK. Since you don't have pot odds to try to catch a Q on the board, I think you should lay it down...

Re: Early in MTT tourney with AK

The weights based on number of ways a hand could be made are as follows: AA-1, AK-6, AQ-8, KK-6, KQ-16, AJ-6, AT-6, QQ-6, JJ-3, TT-3.

Now for some subjective guesses. Tell me if I'm way off. I...

Re: Early in MTT tourney with AK

I did an analysis where I started with any likely hand he may hold (AA-TT,AK-AT,KQ), and weighted them based on statistical occurrence, likelihood that he would reraise preflop, and likelihood that...

Re: Is This bad MTT poker?

After the first few rounds of any tourney, steals become extremely important to your success. With a big stack, I'm stealing with almost anything from the right spots (MP-LP with a tight-weak BB), as...

Re: 2 pair on coordinated board.....

This is one of those hands that is very difficult to play out of position. You are most likely up against top pair or a draw and somewhat less likely to be up against a made str8. Also consider that...

Re: 2 pair on coordinated board.....

Given the coordinated board, I'd be happy to take it down right here. I'd make a pot-sized bet to price out the draws. I'd be very wary if I got any callers.

Re: Really beating myself up (Qx suited????)

One important point that did not get mentioned (or I missed) is that with 5 left, on the bubble, a steal is likely from any position. It's very possible that A4o is the best hand.

Another shooting star hand

Shooting Star Round 4 -- 100/200, 25 ante
I open with QQ in MP for 600. On previous hand, I stole with an 800 chip bet. Stan Goldstein, who is to my immediate left reraises (to 1500 I think) and all...
