Re: Do you think this will help or hurt my poker game?

Adapting to different tables is definitely a big part of poker, and I think playing for points (if the players are indeed different from most cash players) would help you learn this adapting skill. ...

Re: Check - Raise

I have some male and female roommates; all the guys play poker, and one of the girls does too. The girl is a very good player, albeit very conservative. In a casino, she has the patience to play...

Re: Villian with obvious set

[ QUOTE ]
I think just calling is really bad.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm curious to hear the justification here. cero made a great case for calling to see the turn, which I agree with.

Can you beat...

Re: who calls this to try for trips

I think it was likely a bad call, because of the fact that sometimes he will hit the A when you hit the 9, and in those instances, I doubt you can let go of your 999.

Also, there is a very small...

Re: Preflop quiz & discussion

T7s: fold. Too many people in to bully, and not a good enough hand. T9s, maybe.

ATo: fold.

QJ: fold.

AQ: call BB, hope to see a flop for that price.

AJs: call or raise, I'm actually...

Re: These continuation bets: Not Working!

Also, I'd bet you were WAY behind on all of those. Continuation bets don't make people with good hands fold. They put more money into flops you hit (if they think you're bluffing) and they stop...

Re: Explaining Poker to a Non-Playing Girlfriend/Wife

I'll be honest, I think it's a really bad idea to play the profitability angle.

1) If you have a bad week or month, and you will, it will be a major pain. Think of how long it takes a poker...

Re: Let\'s Get Retarded - Commerce 3/5NL

1) I feel like you don't really want constructive criticism here but instead want some kind of reassurancet that you played it well.

2) I'm sort of baffled by reraising preflop against a LAG. Are...

Re: Party is fishy as hell right now

I play NL200 & NL400, & find the Party games the tightest of all the sites I play. (full ring)

That's why I primarily play elsewhere.

Re: 2-5 Blind QQ Huge River Bet Hand

Is it normal for people to be up 5-8 buy-ins at this game? And do you find it to be more or less profitable to have a big stack?

why do you think you have a right to see a hand just because someone else saw it?

Re: TPTK against decent player.

I would also say $4 on the turn, though I would not be reraising.

What does one call with preflop in MP? My guess is a medium pocket pair, or perhaps JJ.

Re: Folding on the flop

I don't think that's a +EV call on the flop if you're folding the turn to anything but an A or Q. Odds of one of those coming is at best 5/45 or so. You had to call $7 into about a $28 pot. So...

Re: I\'ve never seen this before

On Paradise, I did see AA, KK, QQ, and JJ on one hand. Figured out the odds a while back but I forget now. One of my better-played hands, as I was with QQ and was the only one not all-in preflop (I...

Re: 200NL - very simple AKo hand

OP doesn't say how big his river bet was, but if its reasonable and villain folded a set, he would've folded his set to the massive all-in push you're advocating on the turn.

Re: Flopped the nuts, but do I have to give em up?

You're playing a few loose players, and the flop is so good for you it's ridiculous. Not only do you have the nuts, there's a good chance someone has top pair, two-pair, or one-card straight draw. ...

Re: How much does Won $ at showdown mean?

I think it entirely depends on the WtSD stat as well - what was that? If that's something like 40%, then he's going to (.42)(.4)=~16% of 160 showdowns, which is about 26 showdowns. So you've got...

Re: Flopped nut straight in BB. Extracting question?

I often get in situations where I have a set. I bet the flop, they raise, and I just call to not "scare them away". Then the turn puts the 3rd Spade out there, and we both kind of panic; the result...

Re: AA with 4 to the flop

It's a pretty safe board. Yes you could lose to a set, but you're not going to get outdrawn to a straight or flush. In addition, I really don't see how someone could have two-pair here - I would...
