Re: keeping the pot small...

I agree with you that Eric Lindgren's book is very good and has not gotten the attention that it deserves.

The other advantage to keeping the pot small is variance --- if you are significantly...

Re: Party $33 rebuy, near bubble hand

I disagree with these ranges. If you want to say 75% a real hand, that is ok, but a "real" hand would not include dominated Aces, like A7-AT (offsuit or suited). I would change that 75% range to...

Re: Optimal play?

It depends on his reads of other players. Have they been willing to put all their chips at risk when raised all-in (i.e. are they call stations as well as passive)? Also, what is his image at the...

Re: Deep in a Party $109, blind defense vs big stack?

Don't be results-oriented. This is a clear push against a blind-stealer. The WORST thing to do is call off close to 1/6 your stack here, in most cases you are ahead of his range. The other reason...

Re: When not to make a continuation bet

I love all of you (and there are a lot of you) who are making bets close to 100% of the time when your raise is called preflop. I'll check it to you every single time on the flop (because the rare...

Re: Two difficult hands: Is there a lesson to be learned here?

I appreciate everyone's comments. Here are the results and analysis:

Hand 1:
After he bet 25k, I raised all-in with TPTK. He called, and turned over QQ. No T or A came and I was out of the...

Re: Obsession with value bets (Warning: Long)

Thanks for posting this. I also believe that play on the river does not get enough attention either in books or on this forum. Here are my thoughts on the matter, I would love for others to...

Two difficult hands: Is there a lesson to be learned here?

The two hands have many similarities. I will present the hands, ask what you would do, and then after some people respond, talk about a possibly emergent principle...

Hand # 1: This comes from...

Re: flop a set, how to extract?

My response is different than anybody else's... why do you raise the flop? If you don't raise the flop, you have not given away the strength of your hand. By reraising on the flop, you are saying...

Ok, rakeback on Party is dead....but can we all just become affiliates

Looking at Party's affiliate web site, we could earn 20% back on ourselves even if we only have one customer (us). Is there any reason this can't be done?

Re: Party Line Up For Tonight Who\'s In? (30K 200K 150+12)

Oh, by the way, I ended up coming in 52 out of 1195 in this one... ok, but I am disappointed in the way I played.. I made a few fundamental mistakes toward the end.

Re: 3rd break

Finished in 67th place for $439... I had 13,000 in chips, but got it all in with QQ against two players. One had KK and the other had AKs. The KK held up and I am out.

3rd break

I have 7321 chips at 3rd break... I was up to 12000, but then I lost a lots of chips to a player when I flopped top pair, but he flopped a straight.

Re: HOH2 on continuation size bets: don\'t agree they should be half po

The size of your flop bet should be based on the texture of the flop, rather than whether you hit it or not. If you have a non-draw flop, a half-pot bet is good whether or not you hit it --- and...

Re: Think along with me on this Party Super Tuesday bubble hand

That's the problem with this hand --- I don't know where I stand (which is why betgo's approach of raising all-in preflop seems like a good choice). I think arguments can be made for the check-raise...

Re: Think along with me on this Party Super Tuesday bubble hand

I like this choice best --- it's difficult to play drawing-type hands out of position, and even if I hit top pair, I can't know whether I am beat or not (bigger kicker). Since we are on the bubble,...

Think along with me on this Party Super Tuesday bubble hand

There are 160 players remaining, 120 get paid. Blinds are 300/600, villian is in CO+1 with 6300TC, I am in SB with 9200TC (slightly above average stack) and get dealt Jc9c. Villian frequently limps...
