You might consider MGM or Mandalay Bay.

I prefer the poker room at MGM, and there is a lot of other stuff to do there (Studio 54 for example).

For $6/12 your best options at the moment are Mirage and MGM (on weekends). Caesars Palace opens its new poker room December 21st and promises to get a regular $6/12 going also, but we won't know...

The Paris / Bally's tourneys pay back really good % by Vegas standards. Around 90% for low buy-in tourneys in Vegas really can not be beat.

Actually, now that I think of it you might also check out Monte Carlo. Rates there are reasonable, and the poker room is nice. Also, it is in a great South strip location. The Brewery there is fun...

You might consider Mandalay Bay, or even "theHotel" - If the four of you are sharing one room it shouldn't be too expensive.

You are most definitely correct. Jan/Feb are cold. You don't want to be anywhere near a swimming pool, unless it's an indoor pool.

Photoc is absolutely correct. The Orleans is the ONLY poker room in Vegas that regularly spreads an O8 tourney. I don't know what the house rake is, which is why it's not posted on the tourney page.

Mac King Comedy Show at Harrah's. You can usually find free tickets if you agree to purchase 1-2 drinks. Great show for a mid afternoon diversion. My fiance loved it.
