SB defense holding AA

Recent hand at 15/30 party... raised two questions for me.

I am in SB with AA. Folded to CO (reasonably TAG stats), who raises. Button folds, it's to me. I call the $30. Big blind also calls....

Re: OK, What am I missing here?

Another matter is that a "player" is not clearly defined in this sort of effort. One fish whom you actualy seek out to play against time after time will be in your database (perhaps with many, many...

Re: Party 15-30: AJ against flop call-reraiser

One additional tidbit... somewhere around the time I was making my turn bet (maybe just afterwards) the villain typed in "fives or sevens?" - reading me for a set (which I wanted), but then calling...

Party 15-30: AJ against flop call-reraiser

I think I made several errors in this hand...

Preflop raiser had ordinary stats - no strong read there.

Re: Correct way to play a flopped set? 5/10 6Max

I would just bet out here on the turn, especially because of the flush draw out there (where a caller might well just check the turn). But nice hand, regardless.

Just another bad beat.

[/ QUOTE ]

Well, in this case, perhaps. However, unlike the usual poker so story, this bad beat was foisted upon the villain.

He shows down 55. Decided to...

This may sound stupid and flame-worthy, but is this preflop call slightly loose vs. unknown?

Button is new to the table, which has otherwise been pretty average for this level.

Re: Party 15/30 - top set on ragged flop, when to show power?

For what it's worth, at the showdown, I lose to 8s4s.

He hit bottom two pair on the flop, bet out, and three-bet it. The turn helped him toward his backdoor flush draw, which he hit on the river....

I think your biggest mistake is "putting him on AQ". Respect the other solid players, but don't automatically put them on a hand that beats you just because they raise.
