Re: TD2-7: Getting action with #2.

[ QUOTE ]

Passive ass preflop game. Do you usually call on the button with a duece and a seven and draw three after one limper?

[/ QUOTE ]

Two limpers, definitely. Otherwise it depends...

TD 2-7: Dropping the 8 when I have three of them

Raising 862 here is pretty loose, but works OK at 2/4 (not so much at 4/8).

Here's my thought process on the second draw: once I get three of the 8s, it's most likely that all my opponents are...

TD2-7: Getting action with #2.

I've been bouncing between 2/4 and 4/8. They're much different games.

Villian (UTG) here is fairly straightforward. I haven't seem him raise crap to try to make a break, and he's never caught a...

Re: Post HERE if you think Internet poker is dying/has died/will die

Nonsense. It's been well demonstrated that you can play an infinite number of hands of poker before the universe dies of heat death. You just have to go to sleep longer and longer before each...

How dead are my outs? A surprising TD 2-7 result.

Conventional wisdom is that 7's and 8's are more dead than other outs. But against opponents who are playing tightly they are most likely to be live!

Method: Enumerate and count all 2-7 starting...

My earlier post in response to this seems to have been eaten by the Internet Monster.

Re: 2346 in SB

[ QUOTE ]
Very loose 2-7 game. Three limpers and I'm the SB with 2346. Raise or just complete?

Are you happier having the BB come in for free or having to pay? I think you're...

Re: Any Garden City Stud/8 players?

[ QUOTE ]

You are probably right about the game structure as I haven't played there for 6 or 7 years, but I used to stop in there on business trips to Silicon Valley and the game was a better...

Re: you make the call. Bellagio floor decision

What a horrific angle shoot. (Which unfortunately is all too common in draw lowball games.) The out of turn actor obviously wants to induce a break so he can stand pat with his 9 or weak 8.

I...

Any Garden City Stud/8 players?

I'm in San Jose this week and am planning a trip to Garden City tonight to play the Stud/8 game. Any 2+2ers regularly play there? If you see me, stop by and say hi--- I'm blond, bearded, wear...

Stud/8 tourney hand: aces up vs. open pair of fives

Value-bet the end here? Take the free showdown because Villian will only call with the low or a better high hand?

A more general question: do you play big pairs any differently in a tournament...

Re: Another stud/8 tournament hand: rolled up threes

[ QUOTE ]

If that river deuce were an ace you would have scooped. As it was, you split the pot with seat 8's 87. Tell me I'm wrong!

[/ QUOTE ]

No, I actually scooped. Seat 8 made aces up.

Another stud/8 tournament hand: rolled up threes

Do I need to start jamming here earlier to protect my hand or put pressure on the low draws? I figured that as long as I was catching good and my opponents weren't I could wait until the big bets to...

Stud/8 tournament hand: trip deuces

When I get reraised on 4th it seems likely that seat 1 has made higher trips. Do I need to find a fold here? Keep going because he might be raising two pair (or maybe I'll boat up and he won't?)

Re: 2-7 triple draw question

I admit occasionally playing hands like 337 or 773 from the big blind vs. a single raise, but I don't play them from the SB because of the possibility of a raise from the BB. Paying 1.5 SB is too...

Re: A-5 Triple draw beginner\'s question

I would probably raise from the button. I don't understand why you say there were 5 players in the pot--- the blinds have not yet acted, so there are only 3 limpers ahead of you. It is generally...

Re: Abandoning the slow play (TD 2-7)

[ QUOTE ]
You played this hand terribly, but I managed to play it worse. How many times does someone fold here for 2 small bets (especially given the preflop action)? 1/4 of the time?

Abandoning the slow play (TD 2-7)

How's my line here? I want to keep the third player in there, he's easily worth keeping around rather than picking up another SB in the second round. The better draws somewhat rough, even against...

Embarassing all around (low content TD 2-7)

I have trouble giving up these steals. I wish that I could claim the call at the end was part of a subtle chain of reasoning (villian is a 2+2er with whom I have often played) but really I was just...

Collusion would be ridiculious in this game.

While I agree, I have to say that is entirely in keeping with the name Tapirboy gave it.

Re: Yendi

I had thought that the dealer got to play, so that the other players could try to determine from his action what was appropriate. But I agree that this would be too huge of an advantage.

Here's some calculations I did in an earlier thread about drawing one to 876 or better. (One draw only.)

There are 560 distinct ways to make a badugi. (56 starting hands, 10 outs for each.) The...
