Re: Not your traditional \"how to play AA\" post

[ QUOTE ]
No way for villain to be holding K /images/graemlins/spade.gifQ /images/graemlins/spade.gif or 77 or 99 here?

[/ QUOTE ]

First, he may not open UTG w/ KQs since he is pretty tight....

Re: Not your traditional \"how to play AA\" post

OK, well I did consider this but I figured that there was a real decent chance that he would make some sort of bluff attempt on the turn if a non-spade hit OR he gets a free card with the K...

Re: Not your traditional \"how to play AA\" post

OK, so you say just call the turn. Why?

My feelings were that the odds that he holds AK w/o a spade and a K falls paled in comparison to the odds that he had some kind of big ace or over pair w/...

Re: 99 hand that gave me trouble

First consideration: If you are worried about overcards, you are actually taking the worst of it preflop since chances are that an overcard will flop. Folding 99 out of position is not a bad play...

Not your traditional \"how to play AA\" post

I was wondering what people thought about the best way to get the most chips out of Villian in this spot. I don't have any particularly strong reads, but Villian seems like a fairly solid TAG.

Re: Open limp on button, should I be concerned?

You should not be concerned - you call. You are getting huge odds of almost 4:1 on your call. Villian could easily have a second best hand. Perhaps he was sandbagging AA-QQ, maybe he has a 7 with...

This is not a coinflip, so call!

According to some, Hero should not call off his whole stack in this likely coin-flip situation. This is not a coinflip situation. True, Villian probably does not have AA or KK. However, his range...

Re: AA form BB, 3rd hand; too aggressive?

I think your RR is fine - I actually would be inclined to raise it up to 250-300, actually. Once Villian bumps it, I'm putting him squarely on a premium hand that he will not let go of. Just go all...

Re: Tournament Ruling: You make the call

OK, so almost everyone seems to agree that the hand was dead. What was the actual ruling?

Re: Preflop with AK at final table in PS 20 table SNG

I think it's a close call between raising it to 25,000 or moving in. Moving in often will maximize your FE, but the one downside is that many players will simply assume you have AK and look you up...

Re: what is the best buy-in to gain MTT experience

[ QUOTE ]
Even at 3000 chips I may not be in dangerous M terrirtory however if there are a couple of large stacks at my table they will be bullying me and ensuring that any pot I get into will be a...

Re: Tournament Ruling: You make the call

No, that's not the problem. You either use the textualist interpretation or the public policy interpretation. It's not the place of the floor to predict what BB would have done, basing the ruling...

Re: Tournament Ruling: You make the call

It makes a huge difference. If you are to say that exposure results in a dead hand, then the pot is won by BB at the point when the cards are exposed. In the OP, SB put chips in after exposing his...

Re: Tournament Ruling: You make the call

In a purely textualist sense, I believe the hand is dead. I'm no expert, but I think the rule is that exposing your hand before acting will dead your hand. Clearly, saying "let's do it" is not...

How\'s this line?

I'm posting this hand because it's my basic strategy for strong TP or OP type hands in HU situations when I'm out of position. The goal is to make Villian make the most costly mistakes (i.e. maximum...

Re: TT, early in Tilt $11

I play these tourneys all the time, so here are some considerations to know:

1) Early on there is much limping with what I would consider trash from EP (like KJ or A9).

2) When being offered...

Re: Check Raising Alternatives

One thing to consider:

I have observed some players use the check-call/lead the turn in order to draw to a winning hand. In fact, I have done it myself. Let me illustrate an example...

Re: Play a Foxwoods hand with me

I'm betting and folding to a raise.

Unless this flop hit someone REAL good, you are usually ahead. I would think AA,AK, and AQ would raise preflop. There are many players and we don't want to...

Re: (22) How not to play AQ

Preflop: Usually fold; you need a real good reason to play here and it's quite read dependant.

Flop: You have nothing, so why call? Usually fold, but you can raise on rare occasions if you...

Re: 1st hand of 1st deep stack tourney

This is an easy fold, to say the least. Villian is not moving in with something like KT. Villian has one of three holdings: An A with a better kicker; A flush; A boat. You cannot beat any of...

Re: Re-stealing

I have the most success in this area against players who vary the size of their opening raises according to their strength and position. For example, some players open for a small raise from EP or...

Reply and Thoughts

First I want to reply to some of the feedback so far:

I didn't say that I was sure I would tripple up, that was just hindsight. In the actual hand, the BB and the SB put in all their chips. When...

Re: Patrick Hayden, Ladder 105, Prospect Heights, Brooklyn

I think his all-in was an increadible play. He was very short stacked and something like a 12% chance to quintouple up was probably his best spot. BUT, the fact that Raymer could potentially make a...

Re: Hand from FullTilt 10k last night...

I disagree with you 100%. First, we don't know that Villian does not have an A. He wants to protect against the flush draw PLUS Hero is presumably a very aggressive player. In this spot, I'm...
