The past 2 times I've gone to Vegas I've flown AmericaWest, roundtrip for $98. I haven't had any problems and its dirt cheap. As far as hotels go, last week I stayed at the Boardwalk for $30 a...

Re: Should You Quit Your Day Job? — Part II

That standard seems a little high to me, I think less than 3% of people would fall into this range.

Re: Any Albuquerque folks playing this Labor Day wknd?

I'll be there. This is kind of a shot in the dark, but do you by any chance have a very pretty blonde girlfriend?

Re: How do I put in more hours/week. (Long/Introspective)

I notice a lot of internet players put in pretty light hours. I play live and put in over 100 hours a month in addition to my fulltime job, and if I didn't have a girlfriend I would play a whole lot...

No.

That's a pretty curt answer to a pretty reasonable request.

You're gonna get a lot of people with sample sizes of like <10k hands who know they shouldn't...

Re: Anyone heard of such a rule?

[ QUOTE ]

The funny thing was, I was not even involved in the hand, but it tilted me so much, it really affected my game for the next hour, and in fact, probably through the time I busted.

Re: Its important to have a killer instinct

I play mostly live and am always really nice to everyone I play with for this exact reason. People will play softer and more straightforward against me because they think I am their buddy. ...

Re: Do you enjoy gambling?

Yes, I won that one. I might add this was in the late 90's when the mexican pizza was the most expensive item on the menu, my strategy involved eating a lot of those and a couple of steak soft...

Re: Do you enjoy gambling?

I was ready to put myself in the "no gamble" camp, but then I started thinking about all the things I have bet money on over the years:

Darts
Ping-Pong
One on one basketball

Re: BOB COSTAS RIPS POKER!!!!

I haven't read this whole thread, but Costas ripping something makes me feel even better about playing.
The first person the use the phrase "douche-bag" as an insult, was staring right at Bob Costas.

Re: I hate my opponents

I used to hate them but now i don't even view them as human beings. They are just blobs of flesh with tiny brains spewing chips. What was once contempt is now just a vague, detatched sense of pity.

Re: Crushing live 2/4 tables

If you have the bankroll I would play 4-8 instead of 2-4. The players are just as terrible, and you can make a lot more money. I don't even know what "crushing" a live 2-4 game is, $5 an hour?, $7?...

Re: Flying in to Vegas (Rent a car or Cab it)

Shuttle is $5. You can catch the monorail across the street at the MGM and get 10 rides for $20. That's how I got around last trip and it worked out well.

Re: Tip for 1/2 NL? (Warned!! Tipping: Don\'t read if you don\'t want)

I used to tip a lot more generously, but now I try to watch it because I play a lot of live poker and it really adds up over a year's time. I will tip $1 on any decent pot. If the pot is under $15...

Re: embarassed to be aggressive (and winning)

I would recommend reading "The Psychology of Poker." I think you will be able to relate to many of Dr. Al's ideas. The concept as I understand it is that the natural thing to do in a live poker...

Also when I am in EP or EP+1. Is it wise to try limping in with hands like Q9s, 76s, T9s, KJo, ATo when the pot will be raised 35-50% of the time.

Re: Any opinions on Harrah\'s in Vegas?

You're really close to the Wynn and Mirage, which are both way nicer than Harrah's. Mirage has 3-6, Wynn 4-8, and plenty of action in both games, if it were me I would play at these rooms. Have a...
