Re: What is the best movie speech ever?

I lean towards Glengarry Glen Ross (both Baldwin and Pacino) but Edward Norton's "F*ck you" speech to the mirror in The 25th Hour was great too. 25th Hour is probably the best movie I've seen in the...

RESULTS

Villain has KQo and MHING. The fact that this was his holding really tortured me for not betting the river. I am pretty confident my check was correct but if there is much of a chance of folding out...

Re: 50-100 River Check

I suspect that Ace high calls, but I'm not sure. How likely do you think it is that A7, A8 or A9 calls a river bet?

Re: 50-100 River Check

I didn't have this knowledge at the time when I played this hand, but UTG+1 turned out to be a very loose player whose holdings in this spot could very likely be two overcards trying to peel. This...

50-100 River Check

50-100 Online. The three opponents in this hand are relatively new to the game, so I don't have much of a read on them. MP is severely underbankrolled for this game, if that means anything.

UTG+1...

Big Pot Theory

Just a quick question, namely, how big must a pot be in order for "Big Pot Theory" to apply? Specifically, at what point does taking action to win a pot take precedence over any other consideration?...

Re: VOOM - the scoop?

If you're an HD fanatic, I heartily recommend it. It has three times as many HD channels as any other television provider. VOOM is currently having some financial issues, but rumors of its demise are...

Re: AA featuring a slew of questionable decisions...

[ QUOTE ]
The line was fine on the turn i think....but why not fire out on the river when you hit.

[/ QUOTE ]

Something felt very strange about the check on the river. It wasn't the check of...

AA featuring a slew of questionable decisions...

This is a hand from last weekend, when I got the opportunity to play with fellow 2+2er's Avid and Bunky. 20-40 at the Borgata.

4 Limpers to me on the button and I raise with red aces. I believe...

Re: tough flop 15/30

This is a hand that needs to be played extremely aggressively on the flop. You must raise, and if you are 3-bet, I like the idea of capping.

You should show this level of aggression for two...

An Angelo-esque opponent?

Foxwoods 20-40

Here's a hand I've been pondering for the last week and I don't really think I understand my opponent's line. Maybe you can help me out here.

I just switched tables from a tough...

Wow. Fold the river really? 18.5-1? Tell me that 1 in 20 times the guy didn't just acquire Party Poker retarded bluff syndrome and fire?

I expect to lose there, the vast majority of the...

Hi JPolin,

I would suggest that you read the essays of Thomas Aquinas (on natural law), as well as the Hart-Fuller Debates (on the legal justification for the Nuremburg trials), and the...

I think your reply glosses over some of the difficulties of this issue. Even if one accepts the Christian god as the source of natural law, there exist significant differences within...

Re: \"Moral Law\"?

[ QUOTE ]
Why does one need a moral "law" in the first place? It's a metaphor, at best. I think that attempts to define a "moral law" are searches for "certainty" in the realm of values, and that...

You confuse the recognition of moral relativism with false morality. And then you conclude that the failure of moral relativism to lead to desirable results therefore "necessitates" the...

Re: AK in a large pot...how do you protect your hand?

There is nothing you can do about the chase, except fold on the river. It is highly unlikely that the player is bluffing when opening into four opponents in a large pot.

Sklansky and others has found this section appropriate to talk about various philosophical issues. Since I respect those opinions a great deal more than I respect yours, you should go f*** off.
