Re: Hand late in tourney ....

I think that if you want an analysis of your play, you have to give more info relating to your table position. I think that raising to T24K is fine with 77 from MP (especially late MP, ie: after 5-6...

Re: Live Tournaments, when is it not worth while?

While I realize what you are saying, I feel that you should be able to beat these small buy-in, fast-paced tourneys before you move up to thye larger buy-ins (where a slower blind escalation might...

Re: Tournament Scenario - You Decide

Although your read on the button raiser is probably spot on...the odds are that he is raising here with much less than 99. The size of the raise should indicate that he's not that strong here as...

Re: AQo bubble facing habitual pusher

Unfortunately, you may have already committed yourself to this hand. With only T8500 left in your stack, you can't really raise then fold to a reraise. Doing so would leave you with T6500 with T900...

Re: Stop and Go on the bubble....good or bad?

I don't like the post-flop push at all. It screams AK missing the flop, and I see this all the time. IMO, you have to decide to reraise pf, and put the MP raiser to a tough decision. Why flat-call,...

Re: The Hand -- An Ace-Queen Problem Part I

I don't think that you have to worry about anyone other than UTG, unless any of the other limpers have very short stacks. I think a listing of stack sizes is vital here, in order to properly analyze...

Re: Short Stacked

I don't know of any good threads, but Harrington's book (the 2nd one "The Endgame" red cover) has a really good explaination and analysis of short stack situations. In this case, your "M" is only 4 -...

Re: KK Overpair...Good Laydown...Or did I fold the best hand?

The (continuation sized) bet was designed to try to figure out what he had in the event that he was going to call or raise. Why bet out the pot here, when he will fold anything that he's not way...

Re: the fine line between being aggressive and being a fish.

Even if he has a set here...which might be a longshot...you will have a small statistical edge. You're about even money (1.1 to 1) to make your flush or straight by the river if he dosen't have a...

Re: value vs pot control

I think that if you put him on the flush draw, you have to raise the turn...he's either going to have you beat, or he's not going to pay you off when the river comes down. If you put him on a weaker...

Re: Last ditch effort to ressurect this post

Like I said before...i'm not that worried about the button...but the small blind's line indicates a big draw (probably to a bigger flush) or maybe a slowplay of a monster...

Once upon a time an old wise man told me to get your money into the middle of the table when you have the best cards. I now realize that he may have been suffering from Alzheimer's.
Thank you for...

LOL...I'm not surprised that you don't get the significance of my 1st point. I'm only going to explain this point, and leave you to learn the others the hard way.
It's true that the numbers (43% of...

Re: ATs against an extremely passive fish.

Depending on your reads for UTG...this is a very questionable call, and definitely not a place for a reraise. If UTG was a maniac raising with anything, then this might be acceptable as an isolation...

Re: Limping QQ under the gun

In poker, there are never any absolutes. That said, limping QQ might be correct, or not so incorrect about 20% of the time. I won't go into the table conditions that might make this play +EV, but I...

When I saw the subject heading...I knew this was a bad play.
Although the texture of this flop is very good for a you to make a big move, this (super LAG) is the worst player to make it against. I...

Re: 2/4 Throwing away money with bottom set.

[ QUOTE ]
sort of true, your bottom set has to be good 25% of the time by the river, so if he's got 75% chance of 88 and 25% chance of AK/images/graemlins/diamond.gif then it's a clear fold

Re: Need help deciding when to raise...

The implied odds (in no/pot limit) are there, but they do increase proportionally along with the number of players in the hand. I should have stressed that the "real" value in these hands is that...

Re: 200 NL 6 max KK hand

I have a couple of problems with the way that you played this hand. I think that (unless the std raise at this table was 5-times the BB) your PFR was a little too high. That's not a big deal though....

Re: Need help deciding when to raise...

I think that your biggest mistake is limping 99-JJ for "set value." Since you are 7.5 to 1 against flopping a set, you have to raise these hands in order to fold-out speculative hands like A-rag...

Re: At what point do I get away from this non-nut flush draw?

I think that your flop call is fine, with any flush draw (w/2 cards to come) you only need to be getting 2 to 1 from the pot. The turn card is scary b/c it fills an open ended straight draw (78 hole...

Re: 2/4 Throwing away money with bottom set.

When he pushes, you are getting 3 to 1 from the pot, so your bottom set only has to be good 25% of the time here to break-even on your call. Could you be 75% sure that you're beat here?

Re: When to fold a set...

Yeah, I guess I should have figured out that percentage...lol. Actually, I could subtract (from the 67%) the 2% of the time that I call and draw out (to my 1-outer) so, somewhere around 65% certainty...
