Re: What do you \"deserve\" as far as comps?

Very interesting thread...

I believe the Taj has an ongoing comp balance, but I do not know if there's an expiration date on comps. I think the Trop had a 180 day expiration date. I usually play...

Re: Favorite Spice/Seasoning

Garlic presses are worthless, and too hard to clean.

Chop it up using a knife and make little slices, or just dice it. or smash it with the side of the knife.

Re: Favorite Spice/Seasoning

Garlic is awesome. Please try not to use the powdered kind. Powdered is usually soo weak, you can't taste it or need lots of it.

Cumin, cayenne, oregano go into great chili.

I love cilantro...

Re: A Tax Situation

It's not going to work if you just have records of your $30k loss. They will ask where your other records are, of winning and losing poker sessions, etc. A piece of paper that says a date and a...

Re: How many bets with the nuts?

If this is a home game of friends, I would go maybe 10 bets, then call, 75% sure that I'm chopping, 25% sympathetic and not wanting to ruin a friend's night.

At a home game or live game of...

Re: Preflop bluff turns into money by the river

"Varying play" is now the excuse for "bad play". Bad players use it more often than good players. The thing is, varying play only helps when the other people at your table notice what you are...

Re: Call the river with QQ?

I probably should have raised the turn.

I really didn't think that UTG+1 would bet a bad hand on the river because of the all in guy. Why bluff for a small side pot? Unless he read the all in...

Re: Call the river with QQ? - RESULTS

After thinking hard, I fold on the river. UTG+1 shows TT, CO shows 88. UTG takes down the pot.

With the combination of the K, the clubs, and a very small side pot, I didn't think UTG+1 would bet...

Re: Call the river with QQ?

Turn call is also debatable. I had figured that if I was up against a K, I would have found out on the flop. Since I didn't get raised, I thought I was good.

I put the all in guy on a draw - and...

Call the river with QQ?

Re: when are you officially all in?

This never happens. When headsup, and the other guy bets all his chips...I do not say raise because, well, people will laugh at me. People call these bets.

If by calling the bet and going all in...

Re: Little confused on why this was split

When trying to compare hands...try to see what a hand "adds" to the board. When the board has 3 low cards, you can easily compare players' hands by comparing what low cards they add to the board,...

Lows are compared with their highest card down.

76543 beats 8432A.

Re: Novice AK in the BB (1-2 NLHE)

The reraise was low. He raises to 10. When our guy's minimum raise is 20, a raise to 25 is low.

Re: Novice AK in the BB (1-2 NLHE)

I guess the question here is, "What do you want your opponents to do regarding your raise?"

If you wanted to win the pot preflop, you agree that it wasn't enough of a raise.

So your opponents...

Re: Getting away from the not-nut flush

Raising preflop with QTs is a mistake. Unless your goal was to buy the pot right there (on a bluff), you can't imagine your hand winning.

After the flop, I would have done the same. When I show...
