Re: Adjusting my play -- PP 2/4 to AC live 4/8

You'll need to adjust for how passive live can be especially at lower limits. It takes some getting used to. Depending upon the player top 2 pair is not a raising hand for some. It makes it difficult...

Re: Probably know the answer but ... (help needed)

Thanks Harv, I appreciate your reply. As many have noted, you're posts are always thoughtful and on the mark.

I hope that my post flop play is average by 2+2 standards, I have no delusions that I...

Re: Probably know the answer but ... (help needed)

Thanks for your reply Crunchy. Lack of discipline is one problem, it's why I am able to tilt money away at times, but I am not completely undiscipled. I would guesstimate that my discipline is above...

Re: Probably know the answer but ... (help needed)

Always looking to get better. Yes, I can (and probably should) do that at 2/4, but I'm feeling a bit stale. My question was poorly formed admittedly. I'm sort of at a loss as to where to go next...

Probably know the answer but ... (help needed)

Jeapordy style (sort of)
The answer is: (What is) take some time off and study.

The question is: Looking for advice on a next step. I'm stuck at $2/4. I'm not dominating,I'm only a slight winner...

Re: Have you ever been asked....

Give you an example ... Got into it with 3 others on the river; 2 were playing the wheel and one was playing a set vs my 8 hight straight. It went bet, raise, re-raise (me), long pause call, long...

Re: Have you ever been asked....

Every time I play live (which isn't often) invariably I get asked this. As we all know, on-line is much more aggressive. I try and take that aggression into the live games. So the question is pretty...

Re: First Time in Vegas...

I concur - Mirage is a rock garden. Nice room, but I won't play the 8/16 there again. Belagio or Wynn would be better choices based on what I have heard. Have also heard that that MGM 4/8 is good! If...

Re: 1 year/almost pooh-bah post(very long, probably boring)

Newhiz, appreciate you putting your "story" out there. I'm solidly in the camp advocating get an (formal) education, but I can understand the arguement that if you're not dedicated, it's a waste of...

Re: Can you make a living playing live 3/6 poker?

Couple of things - I think everyone agrees that playing 3/6 live full time as your only source of income would be hell. Take what you hear from the (so-called) pros with a grain of salt.

If you...

Bump.

C'mon guys, where are the rest of you. No one else wants to let us losers who couldn't attend in on the trip?

Re: Stuck with overcards - Boring hand

Is the pre-flop raise after 2 limpers with K,Qo standard? If I remember OP correctly, no reads. Not being able to put limpers on a range I will sometimes limp along with this and hope to connect and...

Re: Using a villian\'s good habits against him.

Is that official? I thought the whole point of the line was to put in the least when behind and win the most when ahead - and therefore fold to a raise on the river. Care to confirm?

Re: Using a villian\'s good habits against him.

There's always a raise vs someone betting Clarkmeister Theorem. That would put this play in the "few times" category. After all, how often do you get a four flush board HU against a good, thinking...

Can we get a consensus here? Two respected posters have come out on opposite ends. JT says fold pre-flop and Harv says call. What's a lurker to do?

Re: Q9s, big pot, how would you play this flop?

Joe, can you maybe expand on why this is a fold preflop? Or can you answer Harv's comments regarding preflop?

Re: TAG EP limper, ATo in LP.

Agreed! So let me rephrase - at 2/4 it's reasonable to put a good postflop playing TAG limping in early, even on a very tight table, on a weak suited ace or small pocket pair in which case I'm Ok...

Re: Advice for someone willing to put in the time/money

Disagree. Both 1/2 and 2/4 are beatable (soft is realtive to skill level/ability) but 2/4 is not "looser" than 1/2, at least it wasn't when I made the jump to 2/4. Levels change, there's been a lot...

Re: TAG EP limper, ATo in LP.

Big, have to disagree - level is particularly relevant. If the higher you go the better the players are (as a general rule) means the game plays differently. I do take your point in that based on the...
