Re: Question in Ciaffone\'s PL and NL book

You were supposed to leave after the first last post. Coming back for a second swipe just makes you look petty.

Re: What good are we? As poker players, are we socially responsible?

A friend and I have discussed this matter on several occasions. The closest comparison to the poker-playing profession that he came up with is being a stock market daytrader. We decided that as a...

Re: Wireless mouse?

Some wireless mice experience a little bit of lag (e.g. moving the mouse and seeing the cursor move a split-second later). They bug the hell out of me. I have a wireless laptop mouse that has a...

Re: \"Resolution\" of My 2001fp Problem and Request for Card Recomd\'n

Sounds like you could use one of the lower-end ATI Radeon cards. If you're not going to play games or do anything fancy with your video, I'd recommend any of the 9xxx series cards. I picked up a 9800...

After thinking about what you said, skunkworks, I can see the value in just checking the river. It seems like most of the time anyone who's left is probably going to be holding Ax and was...

Re: Play along, anyone? KK, flopped A, sizeable field

It's a big pot already, so our Hero needs to maximize his chances of taking it down. All he needs to do is invest 1.5 BB to bet the flop, bet the turn, and check the river through. And maybe if he's...

Re: A-high Straight Draw AND K high Flush Draw... fold it?

That's a pretty bizarre hand. I might 3-bet that flop because you have a lot of outs, but it really depends on whether you think you can buy the free card. On the river, I would play it the same.

With 5 other players in the hand with you you can be almost certain(80-90% sure) someone has an ace and already has you beat.

Re: Play along, anyone? KK, flopped A, sizeable field

Bet the flop, bet the turn, check the river is my default line on a hand like this. I don't like giving free cards, and no one has showed aggression which should make you think that you are ahead. If...

Re: Stats check

My went to showdown is around 33%. Your numbers may be skewed by how many players you play against. My average # of players at 1/2 6-max is 4.9. If you're playing more HU and 3-handed games, you can...

Re: KQ hand

Call it down. You've got a gutshot, and it's possible that your hand is good or that pairing your kicker might drag you the pot. The pot is big enough to justify a calldown.

Re: .5/1 to 1/2 (6-max) transition

I definitely recommend learning how to play SH. The Party 6-max tables tend to attract more of the "action" players, and the higher number of hands dealt per hour means that on average you'll have...

Re: Why some struggle with the jump from Micro to SS games

Let me chip in on this subject. I think getting some shorthanded experience can really help quite a bit at the 2/4 or 3/6 level. Although I've seen plenty of 2/4 tables that play like .50/1, there...

Re: You make the call

Hero doesn't have a gutshot, he has a double gutshot. JT on an AQ8 board. With the clubs, in effect he has a straight flush draw. I probably push to his bet since the pot's fairly big on the flop.

Re: Bet the river?

Easy river bet. In the long run, you'll see lots of one-pair and worse two-pair hands call you -- enough to justify getting checkraised here every now and then to a flush.

I'm pretty sure your hand was good here. Nice play as well. Keep pushing until you get resistance.
