Re: $5100 for a tournament in Niagara Falls?

Yeah, I have to express my doubts. Although the 225 dollar tourneys have been pretty good...so good that both times I've tried to enter I arrived too late to enter. Full tables, and I arrived an...

Re: Mike Matasow is a raving lunatic

There are some drugs that would be usefull in poker. Beta blockers, such as Acebutolol, would help to limit tells by blocking the "fight or flight" response. Studies of poker players have shown the...

Re: $55 - getting away from AA postflop

Looking at the range of hands he could be playing, I can't see a good way to get away from this one....nor any reason why you should. I agree that a read is important in this case. If he had QQ or...

Re: 89s -vs- AKs

It should also be noted that suited connectors do better in a cash game than in a tournament. A hand like 89s is a hand where you want as many people in the pot as possible. Let's look at a sample...

Dumbest move you\'ve ever made

Last night I was Hamlet at the poker table. I was only crazy when the wind blew North North West, but damn was it blowing hard. The inability to make a decision was killing me, and I was treading...

Re: On behalf of all of 2+2.. (Raymer congratulation thread)

No doubt. Greg made a fabulous showing. As those crazy kids who sit at my table are prone to say, "mad props to the man."

You showed that poker requires skill, thought and strategy. That you...

Re: Best ME in years??

If I was to make a dream player to put at the final table, I would choose a local celebrity who started playing on the internet.

Tom Sartori, you better build that stack back up today. I'm...

Re: Help with Prelfop Strategy

[ QUOTE ]
If I'm hit with a small pocket, 2-9's, (Hands I hate) I generally just limp.
If I'm raised from a middle-late position, and its not too much, I’ll just make the call, and look to hit my...

Re: tournament ethics/strategy question

I wouldn't call it an ethical question, but I do question the intelligence of the idiot who tries to bluff the side pot when an elimination is at stake. Personally, even if I flop the nuts it's in...

Re: Someone wants to bring a cheat sheet to our tourney- thoughts?

Why not? It seems to me that if they play from a strategy sheet than they can be pushed off pots far easier. What are they holding? Know the cheat sheet and you know the player.

I would put in...

Re: fundamental style/strategy differences between tourney\'s & ring

Biggest difference I would see would be the number of people involved in post-flop play. With a tourney it's normally only one or two people in a hand. In a ring game people will hang on longer...

Re: What\'s the Game of the Future?

Easy question. It's that game they played on the old Battlestar Galactica series with the funny shaped cards. Duh.

Then again, it'll be a moot point since our simian overlords won't allow us...

Re: How do you know when you don\'t have the nerve for the game?

Seems to me you took the first step by honestly looking at your game. Too many people just drive on hopelesly or quit. I was in the same boat about a year ago. I mostly play a home cash game with...

Re: I don\'t like to play well

You should play at my table.

Seriously, there isn't anything wrong with this. People get different things out of poker. Some people love the action, others love the strategy, some just like to...

Re: AK hits big but......

This is painfull because not just 30 minutes ago I lost money to the same situation (except the flop was AA6). The other player, of course, had A6.

That being said, it's a no brainer push. Two...

Re: 2004 USPC final table

Yeah. Going from the top to the bottom has to hurt...especially when you played right the whole way. Didn't like some of the table behavior, but given the lack of sleep and the stress that's...

Does anyone have any first hand experience with the poker rooms in Colorado? Since my wifes family is from there, I figure I might as well make family time into a working holiday. When I last lived...

Re: do some people really have better luck?(rant... be prepared)

As others have pointed out, you are far more likely to remember the big beats than the small wins (or even the large ones!). You also don't see the winning hands other people held that they threw...

Re: Hello! What is the IDEAL # of OPPONS....

735,243 people who go all-in. Your pot odds would be fabulous. Hit it once and retire.

Assuming your casino has smaller tables than that, however, the more the merrier with a drawing hand like...

Re: Strategies against players who don\'t give a damn.

Exactly!

Here's the flip side of the equation, though. You'll be giving up more pots and losing the effectivness of raising but that's offset by the fact that you'll make more with better cards...

Re: Strategies against players who don\'t give a damn.

Two factors are killing you.

The first one you nailed. Pots are won by forcing the other person off the pot and having better cards. If you can't force them off, you'll lose more hands. The...

Re: what are weak tight players thinking about?

I agree. Confidence is a big factor in playing a good game. What gives more confidence than winning? In low level games you don't need to be fancy to make a profit at the table. Playing tight...
