Re: Dilemma: Money or Improvement?

I have about 30,000 hands total in PT, 20,000 of which are at $25 NL. I have recently stepped into the realm of $50 NL. My bankroll is about $1250 or so in my main account. I would say I'm...

Dilemma: Money or Improvement?

I generally two table, which largely eliminates getting a good read on anyone. Maybe some of you can do it, but I can't. It isn't that big of a problem, because it's still plenty profitable to play...

Re: Multitabling fish? Should I be sitting at all of his tables?

There's no way that his preflop strategy is one with a positive expected value. I can only assume that over time, he is going to go broke, and generally speaking, you want to sit at tables with guys...

Re: Beating 25NL 6-Max

Do you have a similar guide for $50 NL 6-max? I'm finding a much tougher go of it there.

Re: BB Special: call an all-in w/o the nuts?

He could also have 77, or maybe the 7 gave him 2 pair, or maybe he had a 10 w/ a bad kicker, and is now confident that he has top pair, but is scared of drawing hands. He could have slowplayed...

Re: Am I beat here?

I'd guess there's a pretty real possibility he has trips, prolly 9s. He could be trying to bluff his way out of a spade flush draw, but I'd say trips is more likely.

Rakeback FAQ

Can someone give me the basics on rakebacks? I play a couple thousand hands a month. Is it worth my while? Am I turning down free money by not doing it? Where do I find more info?

Thanks.

Re: Learn from my mistakes.

Yeah, it seems like in those check raise scenarios, you're only going to be called by someone who has you beat. Why not bet a smaller amount, and find out?

Re: Playing against a 80% VPIP 30% PFR jackal?

I think a common thing that kills good players when playing against terrible 80% guys like this is that they underestimate them. They say "this guy is terrible, I need to get my stack in against...

Re: probably pretty standard, not sure though

That's probably exactly how I would have played it. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, but probably what I would have done. If a diamond doesn't come on the river, you're ok, unless he has AT,...

Re: fold or call

Your mistake, as you said, was the small bet after the turn, which gave him the odds (or near enough for an average player) to continue calling and catch his straight. A bigger bet would have been...

Re: How far do you push with KK?

The only way I don't call is if I have info that indicates that the player is extremely tight. Timid players only push all of their chips in with AA and sometimes KK. Against anyone else I call.

Re: AK, flop TPTK

I prefer a pot sized bet when I hit my top pair, particularly if I have top kicker, and particularly if I raised. There's a good chance that he would have called anyway, even if he didn't have a...

Re: Where do I draw the line?

If he's overly aggressive, the only thing you should really be worried about is him raising with a hand like A3 or something that flopped him an OESD. If you've flopped 2 pair against an aggressive...

Re: QQ against maniac

[ QUOTE ]
I'd reraise pre-flop to see how much he likes his hand.

If he pushes I'll probably fold unless he's pushed all-in with crap hands before.

If he smooth calls and QQ is an overpair on...

Re: Why am I losing with AK?

It's possible.

I don't have it in front of me, but it seems like my average hand is :

I raise 4 BB, get 2-3 callers, and I miss. Someone bets in front of me and I fold, or I bluff with 2...

Why am I losing with AK?

AK is a losing hand for me. Why? I have about 15,000 hands logged.

Standard move for me is to raise with it from any position. If I hit an A or a K, I'll make a pot sized bet. I'll probably...

Re: awkward AK hand

Lately I've been wondering if I have been overplaying AK. I think against this many players I'd be tempted to fold preflop, figuring to be against no less than one pocket pair. I think I'd call if...

Either way it's pretty close, I guess. Close...

Re: Top set - Party 200NL

odds question based on this hand... am I calculating this right?

He has 7 outs to the full house or quads on the turn, or 7 / 47 = 14.9%

and he has 10 outs to the same on the river, or 10 / 46...
