I'm sure most of you are familiar with the Monty Hall problem (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monty_Hall_problem).

Some friends have been arguing over a subtle variation on this which is as follows:...

Re: Single chip non-verbal raise?

Where I play, if you put just one chip into the pot without saying anything then it's always just a call, regardless of the chip's denomination.

Re: String Bet?

Seeing as this was clearly not an attempt at angle-shooting, and the guy thought he was announcing his raise in a legitimate way, I think it would be seriously nitty to forbid the raise.

However,...

Re: Dealers mouth!

Take the deck from the "dealer", inform him his services are no longer required and that if he ever does that to you again he will be under direct threat of violence.

Alternatively, you could NOT...

Re: US advice for UK tories?

My advice to the Tories would be to torture Karl Rove slowly to death before disbanding.

Re: ($11) JJ against shorter stacks

I'd play it the same way you did.

You'll doubtless have overcards to dodge, but at the $11 level there's no way the action before it gets to you has to mean qq or above.

Raising standards in short-handed LHE

I've recently been playing a lot of short-handed (5 to a table) limit hold 'em, with reasonable success.

However, one aspect of the game which I am not confident about is which hands I should be...

Re: MTT\'s and drinking alcohol(serious topic)

Re: Final Table Hand vs. Chip leader

Of the range of hands you put him on, you tie once and lose every other time. Obviously you may be able to bluff him off a few of them, but even so, I see no reason to go any further in this pot -...

Re: Poker fun: Quick riddle

If you get into a pre-flop raising war with someone you know to be a "super-tight passive rock" when holding only QQ, then you are just as big a fish as the millionaire in the question.

Re: Stu Ungar Suck-Out? 1997 WSOP Final Hand

Notice also that after the turn card paired the board, 32 of the remaining 44 cards in the deck would have given Ungar at least a split of the pot.
So although he was an underdog on the flop, he'd...
