Re: Laying it down

Don't bluff the fish. But if you try your flop raise should have been bigger say a 100. If he calls it does'nt look like he is going to get off the hand.

Re: 50-100 shorthanded AA hand.

It would kill me to blow my whole stack slow playing AA. I understand what you are trying to do but you commit yourself to calling it down quite possibly for your whole stack. In a shorthanded game...

Re: Try a Tricky River Trap?

might as well because he will call with a king and not bet if doesn't have one. I don't think he will feel he could steal the pot if he doesn't.

Re: 2/5 NL Easy Lay Down?

When he doesn't raise your turn bet the best I could put him on would be two pair or a set after the river. I would have pushed. Seems to me he probably had a weak ace. If you layed this hand down I...

Re: PP NL $600

If you had bet the pot on the turn and he calls, it is time to think. When the board paired the fours you could have checked and played from there.
As bad as you played he played even worse. you...

Re: Aces play a big pot? Prima 25-50NL

You have no choice but push to protect your hand. You could put him on anything but it might include a club also.
It looks like he's has a hand that's calling anyhow.
Hope it worked out.

Re: 1st shot at UB 10-25

Hand 1: You gave him a free card on the turn, why? I would have bet the pot. After the turn I am sure your still ahead.
Hand 2: He's only going to call you if your beat. I would have probably bet...

Re: 10-20 blind game at Bellagio

trappers sometime get trapped. trying to play cute lets your opponents see too many free or cheap cards. The game is about driving people out or making them pay. With your style of play you don't put...

Re: Perspective from a player in the game

How do you think spirit rock wins on ub. the same way. people will criticize his play on certain hands but in the big picture he is looking to take stacks not win hands. he will play from behind...

Re: Flopped nut straight, then saw a scary turn

I think I would have put him on ace, five or no better than a set. When it took him that long to call what could he have? I'd say you have to call so you might as well put him all in

Re: Another Party NL $600 hand--played like a girl

It would have served you right if you lost the hand.

Re: Getting Cute at the Binions No Max NL Game

when she only calls the flop you know she is behind and rules out a flush. when the 3 comes on the turn the best she could have is a staight which doesn't seem likely. She had the best hand she could...

Re: Hand

If you going to call it down why not push. That seems to me to be the correct play. Maybe he might have laided down a queen and you still had plenty of outs.

sometimes people have a tendency to overthink hands as you did here. forget the stats on your opponent they don't apply here. playing it straight forward you might have still lost this particular...

Re: 3-handed 10/20 NL

it all depends if you want to gamble. you could be up against overcards or a higher pair. you could be a small favorite to a big underdog. with only 80 invested and an opponent who seems like he has...

Re: 5/10 QQ UB Hand.

If you raised before the flop why not lead out after the flop. say for 120. giving free cards is courting disaster. lets say an ace or king fell on the turn now what do you do. trappers sometimes...

Re: Party 600 NL Top two hand

with that type of bet it looks like a weak ace to me. I am raising the size of the pot. If he had a set he would only had called. you flopped the best you could hope for. make him pay.

Re: Passive Aggressive AA

If you bet you are only going to get called by a hand that has you beat. If he bets the pot I lay it down. You only have 130 invested. Save your money for a better opportunity.

Re: 400 NL bluff this turn ?

Do you think the villain would be raising with a flush draw? Probably not. You could put him on a queen but with what kicker. I would have reraised the flop to 150 and go from there. If he was on a...

Re: UB 25-50 hand vs GoG

Personally I think you probably folded the winner. If you call the turn you know you are probably going to have to call an all in river bet. So its either fold or go all the way. Seems more likely to...

Re: 10-25 NL 3 handed, 3 hands for review

hands 1 and 2 look great to me.
hand 3 I would have called his first raise because of having position. After you have raised to a 1000 and he pushes your forced to call because even though you might...

Re: and if i stare too long, i prob\'ly break down and cry

first of all you should have raised preflop to 150. But once you slowplayed and villain raised to 350 the rest of my money goes in. As they say get your money in when your ahead and the only hand...

when you show any signs of weakness in that game be prepared to make some tough calls. They don't play abc poker and make plays that have no rhyme or reason. They overbet even when they know...

Re: 25-50 commerce.....interesting decisions on all streets.

MP played it poorly. If he overbets the pot on the turn the button folds and now you have to make a decision. Would you call or lay it down if you really thought he had a small straight. But with the...

Re: Bluffing Spirit Rock 25/50

If he has queens beat he is coming over the top of you. Otherwise I am sure he laid the hand down. Your betting represented strength which he would have to respect.
