Re: College courses on poker?

Any accredited university would not offer a course on "how to play . . ." anything.

I am degrees removed from needing further credits.

Re: academic article: \"Prize and Risk-Taking Strategy in Tournaments\"

Interesting article. If I may ask, how did you find this? i.e. are you part of a distribution list?

I would be interested in any and all poker-related academic articles I could find.

Re: Low Limit in Vegas

I would have to recommend at least visiting the Mirage (3-6) and the Bellagio (4-8). Best dealers, nicest rooms, and lots of rich tourists with money to burn.

Re: handling players that insist on softplaying

I would define that as "collusion" rather than softplaying. In my experience (Vegas casinos), there is very little enforcement of rules against either until you hit the 10-20 level and/or another...

Re: handling players that insist on softplaying

I think the key word in your story was "headsup". If the softplaying only begins once all other players are out of the pot then it seems like it's your choice. Just figure out if you would gain more...

Re: Quarter Million Guaranteed Final Table Analysis

Thanks for feedback, one question:

You mentioned that the payout was pretty flat. I've only played at Party so I'm not familiar with other structures. How steep would payouts have to be to justify...

Re: \"I put you all-in\"

I've seen this work extremely well at the low limit NL hold-em cash games (i.e. $300 max $2-5 blinds at the Mirage), especially when the target has less than the max buy-in. Induces more than it's...

There is a decently-active forum on the PokerTracker website as well that you may want to look at before purchasing.

Re: Hilger ITM: good players expect 1 BB/hr??

This also ignores the effects of multi-tabling (from what I remember, the author has insufficient coverage of multi-tabling). For example, a player who 4-tables $0.5-1 may only make 2 BB/hr/table...
