Re: At what level of live NL are half the players professionals?

commerce has 20/40nl spread all the time, and that's just LA.

Re: Poll: IQ

What exactly IQ measures and whether it is a meaningful indicator of intelligence is itself a topic of heated debate among cognitive scientists. It is generally assumed that IQ measures something...

Re: 10/20 short - a little bit too enthusiastic?

I would put him on pp, and given your table image it might be hard to convince him its no good. If he calls the flop and turn, he probably thinks he has the best hand, as a draw is unlikely. The...

Re: Pop Quiz Hotshot

I play plenty of 600nl and I doubt most people will fold tp+nut flush draw here. Since you assume you are drawing live, a push can be justified since you are breakeven or better in most siuations. ...

Re: Betting/raising for information -- request for a theory post

I make these kind of, "hey I have top pair and want the pot, please go away before the turn" bets, but only against players (judged by me) not sophisticated enough to use it against me. You are very...

Re: Opportunity Comes Knocking

I'm a tight caller post flop but I will open raise 6handed with a lot of hands. I don't think these are contradictory. This depends on the feel of the table, but I think that a very high percentage...

Re: Nice Fold! (low content, maybe amusing)

You could be thinking on the HIGHEST level and clutching your successful 2 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif3 /images/graemlins/diamond.gif semibluff with disbelief.

Re: Opportunity Comes Knocking

I'm saying the logic behind it is routine, not the play itself. I used to be concerned almost exclusively as to whether I had the best hand. Now I am equally concerned with whether I can get the...

Re: Opportunity Comes Knocking

Are you saying you will call with kings in his spot or not? I am asserting its a fairly easy fold. Do you disagree?

Re: What to do when you stop getting paid off

Top pair is by far more common than all stronger hands combined. You need to learn to play it well and not give people free cards etc by playing weak. It's very important that you win the pots...

Re: Opportunity Comes Knocking

I feel like you guys are missing the point. On the turn, it becomes obvious that I have the worst hand. This can dually justify a laydown or a push. I know I'm behind but put yourself in his seat....

Opportunity Comes Knocking

6 max party 1000pl - recently sat down, all players seem fairly average, no extreme agression or loose calling. I'm at about 1300, villain about the same.

Re: How much respect do I give this guy?

making good reads on players is great and all but don't invite undue pressure on yourself like this. good NL players are putting others in uncomfortable situations more frequently than they...

Re: whats my play here?!

check raise all in. if they are passive players who may take the free card, then maybe pot it. otherwise check raise all in. you are likely to have the best hand, and have outs even if you dont....

Re: Hey Bart

I definetely wouldn't call with AQ here. Given the action and no specific reads, I would say you are beat here > 80% of the time. It just so happened that this fell in the 20% but still, if you...

this hand can swing from being auto-call to auto-fold purely based on small differences in one's appraisal of BB

Re: 5/10 NL 6Max - 99

Call the turn and check fold the river. I genuinely don't see what is so marginal about either of these decisions. There are a lot of hand combinations not involving top 2 that the villains can...

Re: Important Hand if you play Nl $1,000

This play may have worked but I don't feel like its something to emulate. The problem with this play in general is that people sophisticated enough to lay down a flush will often (not always) be...

Re: Am I an idiot?

Trying to move the average player off of top pair is very -ev. The only exceptions that come to mind are when you are using an obvious scare card or it is reasonably apparent (for some other reason)...

Re: Party Adds 5/10 nl to repetoire

This is awesome, long overdue, and i think very good for the better 2+2ers. I used to only play these stakes live. I don't see why people think 100bb is bad for better players. Time for major...

Re: 6 handed NL 100 at Party Poker - How much $/h can a pro make?

You can apply way more pressure to a big stack. If I represent an ace here, a small stack with ~60 more might just say f-it, I have kings, im going with it. A stack with ~160 more can't really do...
