Raising the max with a vulnerable nut hand , 1 card to come

I'm running across this situation fairly often. Hit a nut straight (Broadway) or nut flush on fourth street. An opponent bets into me. Should I:
1. Raise the max even if I commit my entire stack...

Re: Bally\'s AC Floor: Live Straddles prohibited by NJ Gaming Commissio

You are correct, AC cannot bar counters. That's how we got the 8 deck game. Originally all the rules such as no resplit and double after split were standard NJCC rules. There is a little more flex in...

Re: Bally\'s AC Floor: Live Straddles prohibited by NJ Gaming Commissio

In blackjack, I was referring to the players cards. Face down "pitch" games such as were once common in Nevada were never legal in AC. The Golden Nugget got fined something like 20K for dealing one...

Re: Cruise Ships

Someone did post something here about Carnival putting a few holdem tables on some of their ships but if you want to play poker at sea, Carplayer Cruises is the best way to go. They bring good...

Re: Bally\'s AC Floor: Live Straddles prohibited by NJ Gaming Commissio

Atlantic City is much more regulated than Las Vegas. It has actually gotten better over the years though. They used to have a rule that chips could only be purchased at a gaming table and that is how...

Re: Tropicana AC spreading 15/30

Are you sure it was holdem? I was there in the summer and they spread 15-30-45 stud and stud hi-lo even on weekdays but the 10-20 only went on weekends. The bigger holdem action there was NL 1-2...

Re: Card Player Cruises Trip Roll Call 12/2/05

Usually the waits are not bad. Last years cruise on the Carnival Legend was a little worse because the ship gave us less space that was originally planned for. The result was that everyone rushed to...

Re: Card Player Cruises Trip Roll Call 12/2/05

I've been on 2 of these cruises. On a "normal" Cardplayer cruise (not the Party Poker Million), they do not take over the whole ship. The group is about 300 and not all in the group play. They...

Re: 2/5 NL at Tropicana

I was there back in July playing the 1-2 NL and it was super juicy then. Good to hear the 2-5 is also.

Re: anyone else having trouble connecting to party today?

The site was working OK earlier, I signed up for the 14:40 tournament and came back to see a message that all services are unavailable and they hope to be up at 5PM. There is nothing about the outage...

Re: AC Tropicana trip report (long but mostly poker)

People used to think the Trop was a rockfest? The games I played were like Party Poker on steroids. The "rocks" are way overwhelmed by the poker boom newbies.

Re: Unsure AA play

I'd make a pot size bet and see what happens. The only hands that can hurt you are JJ and anything with a nine. You'll most likely hit a large raise if one of these is out there. Otherwise be glad to...

Re: AC Tropicana trip report (long but mostly poker)

I always bring my books when I travel, but they never go near or get mentioned in the cardroom. My plan was to review some of the problems on the beach between swims. As to being seen by other...

AC Tropicana trip report (long but mostly poker)

Just got back from a three day stay at the Trop using the poker rate ($89 per night with 4 hours play a day). Overall it was a very good trip. I arrived Sunday 07/24 at about 11 AM. I got into a...

Re: Pocket Underpair, Checked to River

I would not bet the turn. That is only a good idea if your pocket pair beats all middle pairs in which case you should bet the flop. Many players will call with an 8 or a weak kicker top pair but not...

Party Poker Million Qualifiers

Anyone have any idea how to play these, particularly the limit ones? I seem to get no playable hands in the early stages and the ones I do get later don't develop and have to be folded on the flop. ...

Re: Cardplayer Cruises questions

There will be plenty for everyone to do since the Card Player people are only about 300 of the total passengers on the ship. (They only take over the whole ship for the Party Poker Million )You must...

Re: QJs in the CO - questions PF and on the Turn

I would have called PF, definitely capped the turn and called the river. As long as a fourth suited card doesn't show you can figure the hand is good. Just calling on the river saves a bet just in...

Re: Best Poker Room in Tucson AZ?

I was out there in March and the Casino del Sol cardroom is definitely nicer. Elegant wood paneled walls and machine shufflers built into the tables. The 3-6 Holdem in both places is with a full...

Re: QQ preflop, if raised before you?

I'd reraise and put him to the test, could be an Ax or a smaller pair. Only AA and KK are better now.
