I found Winning Omaha/8 Poker by Tenner & Krieger most helpful for a newbie. Another invaluable source www.o8poker.com. (http://www.o8poker.com.) The site is informative and lists several links. Also...

Re: Card Protecters

Be careful, if you need to go all in the gold piece is part of your bankroll and can be lost.

Re: Calling Station hand

I agree with your pf call and flop check. Since you know there will be no low after the turn card, I would raise. If he's filled a boat you will be re-raised. If he has two pair you might scare him...

Re: Lesson learned with the nut low...

Don't ignore the size of the pot. If there was a lot of betting on prior streets, there may be enough money in the pot to justify raising/calling with just the nut low even if you are getting...

Re: Calling Station hand

Since you were willing to call the turn and the river without improving, why not raise the turn?

No, you would have won. 7652A is lower than 76532.

Re: 10/20 limit, quick turn issue HU

Why give him a free card to draw out on you? If he won't call for 1 bet on the turn what makes you think he will call on the river if he doesn't fill?

Re: 10/20 limit, quick turn issue HU

Would he have raised with A2xx where xx are middling cards? At this point why not raise, but I play at much lower limits. If all he has is A2 he might fear being quartered for the low.

Re: vs a true maniac

I'm probably gun shy after having 3 losing sessions in a row, but I'm leaning towards folding on the flop. The 3 diamonds scare me and you have a draw to 2nd nut low and only low pair at this point...

Re: Which book for an Omaha? tried to search but no luck

I found the Tenner/Krieger book to be most helpful. The O8 section of SS2 would also be a good choice.

Re: Stupid noob question regarding low hands

Not to state the obvious, but some hands don't have a low. Meaning of the players going to showdown, there aren't 5 different value low cards of which 3 must come from the board and 2 must come from...

Re: Omaha Newbie Help

Nice to see you and your shirt here. Go to www.O8poker.com (http://www.O8poker.com) for starters and some good links. Pokerstars has .02/.04 & .05/.10 limit O8 with no rake. Usually have a few games...

Re: Three pair on flop ... what to do??

Not preflop, but I would probably check/fold after seeing this flop.

Re: Three pair on flop ... what to do??

Dave:

I agree with your logic other than the fact that the pot is so small. With only 3 bets pf do you really want to call a bet?
