Live 1-2 NL: How much do you like J10s?
I was playing a live 1-2 NL (100 max buy) game the other night. I was up to about $320 and got dealt J10 of diamonds one position off the button in a 9 handed game.
One of the deeper stacks...

Re: Commerce gonna be nuts this weekend??
I've played a lot of the California cardrooms and wanted to add a few bits of advice:
- 25BB is probably buying in short. I'd budget 35BB. In these games 4-6 people see every flop and they all...

Re: Insert Catchy Title Here
I feel pretty confident he doesn't have a flush nor does he have a missed flush. He betting feels to me like he's trying to charge you for drawing. By the river he's concluded that you don't have...

Re: $6/12 vs. $100max 2/3 blinds NL earn rate
I played both games regularly in San Francisco. 6/12 is by far the more profitable game in my mind. 2BB/hr is very acheivable in 6/12. The time charge for 1/2 NL is just brutal. I'm not good...

Re: Too aggressive with TP2K on board w/o draws?
I might try a weak lead in this situation for something like 1/2 the pot. If your opponent completely missed, he's probably going away. If he got a piece of the flop, a weak lead might entice him...

Re: Raise the flop?
I do prefer raising the flop. A bet like $30 from your opponent is a decent sign that he does have high cards. Raise on the flop and he'll either fold right there or check to you on the turn. In...

Lucky Chances no limit structure
Played Lucky Chances' $1/2 no limit game this past friday. After several hours at this game, I started to question whether or not it could be consistently +EV.
First off, the time charge at $6...

Re: A More Refined Discussion of The Limp-Reraise
"you don't always have to reraise though"
Well I suppose you don't have to, but this thread was called a discussion of the "limp reraise." If you're just talking about limping in early position,...

Re: How to beat Spirit Rock
I think if I ever played stakes like these, I'd announce my bets and raises in the form of brands of cars.
"I'll rase you a Nissan Sentra."
"Bullshit, you don't have the cards, I'll reraise you...

So many good posts, I feel guilty adding my two cents; and I'm not even a pro.
I started playing a year ago and playing for more than quarters about 5 months ago. Up a little less thank $9k in...

Re: $3/$6 NLHE PS tptk out of position
OK, fair enough. I think Ray Zee's example is a little more reasonable though.
For your situation, a couple of thoughts:
You probably aren't up against a made straight. Someone would have to...

Re: Stars 5-10 NL
Hand one, the only thing I'd consider is raising his bet on the turn. Either way I think you wind up losing the same amount of money.
Hand two, I definitely don't bet that flop with 3 other...

Re: AKo from the button, reraise PF?
In addition to the reasons JrJordan gave for reraising preflop, one more reason: the flop can miss you completely and a big bet from you will take it down anyways.

Re: 5/10NL Hand v. AJo
What kind of nothing could this guy rationally have after calling your preflop raise cold?
Similarly, what kind of jack could he have after calling your raise? KJ? Even that is quite loose. He...

Re: 5/10NL Hand v. AJo
Just trying to think of hands somebody would call a preflop raise cold and then act like they did on the flop and turn. Guess you're right, if it is 10-10, you'd check the river. Now it HAS to be...

It's really hard to get away from a hand like that. I probably would have fallen into the same trap as you. That said with the benefit of hindsight, a min check raise like your opponent did usually...

Re: 5/10NL Hand v. AJo
If he has an ace, the turn check makes sense to me. He bets a little more than the pot on the flop and Diablo check-called. At that point, I if I had paird the ace, I'd start getting concerned that...
